Just got notification of flight cancellation 4 months in advance of direct flight QF105 MEL HNL. Any intel what’s happening here? Was an a330 schedule, so i assume finally run out of planes to maintain an existing published schedule?

Of course this will now require transfer thru Sydney on the day before. Only reason I booked this was because of direct flight. Really really difficult to like this airline. Haven’t flown qantas since burning points after covid (and platty). And I suggest to you, won’t be in the future.

Update, seat selection not available for HNL leg, so will have to call…. 🤯

And it would appear back to a330 for Sydney. I thought that was upgraded to 787 with introduction of MEL flight. Anyways just need to grip… only place is here….

HNL is moving to the AY A330s (dry lease).

It doesn't appear that the direct QF105 service is being dropped entirely.

It may be a frequency reduction. Looking at some random dates in April, it looks like it runs Tue/Thu/Sat

What day of the week was your flight?

It would appear it is being paused from Jan 31 to March 31.

I would assume it is due to aircraft availability issues, and obviously this route is low season during this time, low yield, first to get the chop.

Are you seeing the “Aisle / Window / No Preference” seat options? That usually means no available seats for one’s status level and number of PAX on the booking. As WP, it means it’s chokers but Row 1 is will be blocked.

Check Expert Flyer for available seats.

I’m booked on 103 in Feb and it’s the AY A330
