I've just booked (but not yet paid) for 2 x Y+ return tickets from SYD-EZE: QF17 27/11/10 and QF18 11/12/10.

I just noticed that we seem to have been pre-allocated seats in row 29.

Now on the only 747-400 seat maps I can find that have a row 29, this row seems to be the second-last row of J (with skybeds). Does anyone know what this might mean? Have we been auto-upgraded to J (that'd be nice :))? Or are QF selling some J seats as Y+? Or is it just a glitch that will resolve itself sometime between now and departure?

Thanks guys! I might not bother with a points upgrade then :)

Well I think I got too excited there, as QF now have a seat map showing a 744 configured with 56 J, 40 Y+ and 275 Y - leaving row 29 as the front row of the Y+ cabin. I guess they have finished their reconfiguring after getting rid of F on most routes :(

Would someone with E/F access be able to verify this for me? And also see what the loadings are like - still considering a points upgrade (although it's a bit late now) but if Y is oversold I might just keep fingers crossed for an op up.

Thanks!

You're still in luck it would seem; seatmaps for both QF17 27/11 and QF18 11/12 are showing rows 29 and 30 as whY+ configured with Skybeds.

Economy looks to be fairly heavily sold on the way over, less so on the way back. I'd expect to fly in the ticketed cabin (and frankly wouldn't bother too much with a points upgrade, seeing as you have the biz hardware already)

Excellent, thanks for that! I might just keep fingers crossed for skybeds and/or an op-up then.

Just in case anyone is interested; SYD-EZE, op-up to J , EZE-SYD, J seats with Y+ service.
