I have just moved permanently to Aus from the US where I have been AA Plat for the past 8 years. I am 33k miles from lifetime AA Gold (OW Ruby). On AA it is a million miles for lifetime Gold. I am QF nothing (Bronze)
I want to know thoughts on if I should continue with my AA mileage as I am so close to lifetime Gold, or switch to QF. I am AA Plat in 2005 and already Gold qualified for 2006 on AA.
TIA

Sidebars:
1. I find AA points so much easier to redeem than QF.....
2. I am so excited about this forum as I am USA (AA and UAL) savvy, but an Asia Pac and QF rookie!

Farma, without a doubt, stick to AA Plat for the higher economy fare types (K, H, B and Y) as well as J/F, because you'll be getting better points and EQM's for re-qualifying through AA (as Plat), than QF.

Lifetime AA Gold won't mean much to you whilst you're travelling domestically, but nice when you're back Stateside.

I'd put any lower economy fare types (O, N, S, V, L, R and M) to your QFF account as you'll get 100% credit (alas, no bonuses as Bronze) but use your AA Plat card to get you access to QP's.

In that way, you'll continue to maximise your points and get access to QP (that I know you'll have already have worked out are better than AC's).

Welcome to AFF, farma - how rude of me not to say it when I first typed the message...where are my manners  ??

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

farma, wlcome to AFF, probably the best locally based group for these sorts of things.

Don't forget to drop in to the Qantas board at http://www.flyertalk.com/ - we are much friendlier there than the AA forum.
