QF Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

To upgrade into business on points, you need U class available.

U class is definitely available, can corroborate 9 x U showing on QF site and also EF

I suspect the 27.6k is points plus pay, booking into I.

This makes sense. It's not possible for that itinerary to cost 27.6k points as an economy class award.

As a classic award it should cost 20k points flat.

The 27.6k was for the full MEL-SYD-ADL flight in business.

Then there is a problem with Qantas.

That's why I was considering cancelling the request and trying it again tomorrow, perhaps.

If you’ve not already tried canceling and requesting again with full knowledge U class is available, I would definitely do that. Has worked for me a couple of times where my request went in a bit too fast and beat ticketing

Other than my ticket confirmation email is there a way of finding out if the ticket has been ticketed? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question!

If you have a ticket number, you’re ticketed 🤓
I booked the flight using the Amex travel portal as I had my $450 travel credit to use. Should've stated that from the beginning sorry but thought I had! When I last used it they sent the 081- ticket number when there was 2 people on the ticket but the time before they didn't. Should I contact Amex tomorrow and ask for the ticket number or can Qantas give me that? Or is this not the issue?

Look up your booking on check my trip to see if there is an actual 081 ticket number.

So tried to request the upgrade again today and still no instant confirmation! Might just wait to see what happens but no big deal if it doesn’t happen.

14/8 Success at T-60 2x pax SYD > SIN QF81 from Y to J.
WP and Saver Y fares.

Hoping for the same on 20/8 returning on QF82 (with flex Y fare) but not super confident with the higher loads on this flight...(J4 C4 D3 I0 showing on EF at the moment)
Update: 2x Y (flex) to J upgrades SIN > SYD QF82 confirmed around T-30!

Requested upgrade for SYD to SIN and back on QF website manage booking from Y fare and B fare. Both were pending.
Travel agency changed return flight and now both upgrade requests have vanished and I now get a box saying 'Not a valid fare type' checked fare type but still both flexi fares. Weird.

Any thoughts on the chance of success with an upgrade to business on the domestic leg of dreamliner flights through PER (e.g. QF5/6 QF9/10) or are the seats all usually taken up?

I've had luck in the past getting two seats on both QF9 and QF10 for the domestic leg. I think Qantas have said in the past that the majority of passengers on the international leg are actually originating/terminating in PER, so the rest of the trip is essentially just another domestic option, just with a more premium-heavy cabin.

Has the re-ticketing been completed yet? Sometimes there are issues with requesting upgrades on pending tickets. I'd ask the agent to confirm ticketing is done and in which specific fare bucket/s, and then give it another try.

Cheers,
Matt.

I have just received an email from QF changing my December 6 flight. QF9 from MEL-PER no longer exists! Not on any day! I have no idea what is going on? Just yesterday I changed an AKL connection in March next year to reinstate QF9 MEL-PER. I am flumoxed. I also have a Jan 6 booking on QF9 MEL-PER.
(You can see I absolutely want to use the First Class Lounge rather than domestic J lounge!)
