I got a text notification today to politely tell me that my PER-KTA flight will be leaving a couple of hours late. Bummer!

Usually these texts just come through with the name QANTAS, no number, but this one came through as just a phone number.

Funny thing though, it was a UK number. +44 number. Why? Why would these notifications come from the UK?

Are you sure it's actually from QF?

My most recent flight delay was about 6 weeks ago (QF51), and the Qantas sms came from a number with a +356 prefix i.e. Malta!

Tripit pro notifications have a UK (+44) prefix for me.

This is the number my Qantas notification came from. Not Tripit.

I have had an SMS notification from QF using that number in the past too.

It's probably just a third party SMS provider, eg: Clickatell or one of the other ones out there.

An SMS notification I received today informing me of a successful upgrade came from 0421 267 500.

There's nothing that guarantees a message comes from where it says it does. I got a message from a number that wasn't in use recently!
