Not me, but I certainly do hope people flying PERth to ISTanbul will earn QF FF mileage and QF SC from this.
Unless its classed as a special. And no FF mileage or SC earnt.
Edit: direct to Gallipoli (if its the same airport as ISTanbul).

It is flying PER to SAW, which is an airport in istanbul. Gallipoli is 4 hours drive away, so not direct to Gallipoli
Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport

Just booked this. Called QF to confirm it earns SC and points (it does). Will keep me at Gold for another year, and allow me to visit somewhere I've always wanted to go.

I find it interesting that the return trip is almost the same price departing Sydney as it is from Perth. Same SC earn also. :(

Lucky it earns both QF FF points and QF SC.
The Polar trip QF does from ADL most years, to view the Antarctic does not earn any QF FF or QF SC, as its classed a charter. Or something like that.
That is why I made the point of saying, ensuring the ability to earn QF FF points and QF SC.

The Antarctica trips are not 'run' by QF as such, a company hires the plane and sells the seats. Just like a Captain Choice trip.

Anyway, not sure what the earn rate would be on a SYD-SYD, MEL-MEL etc flight would be ;-p

Talking about the Antarctica trip on Monday, does anyone have the times of departure and return?

Judging by the International Destinations and Airlines which fly there, SAW appears to be very much a "secondary airport". Although QR flies there, there is no Lounge listed on their website, though OW states that QR use the LGM (3rd Party) Lounge. I wonder whether QF would even negotiate lounge access for the one flight ...??

Regards,

BD

Flown out of SAW a couple of years ago. It's basically an airport built for Pegasus and then used by other airlines. No rail to SAW but managed a hotel shuttle pretty easily. The paid lounge I used was average, with no toilets or showers.
