The bonus Status Credits offer is only available to members who transfer their credit or charge card reward points to Qantas Points that take place between 12:01am (AEST) 27 May and 11:59pm (AEST) 30 June 2020. You will earn 1 bonus Status Credit per 5,000 points transferred to a maximum of 150 bonus Status Credits. Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards any Loyalty Bonuses, any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, or any Qantas Status Accelerator. Status Credits are not transferable and governed by the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions. Please allow up to 15 days after the offer has closed for the bonus Qantas Points and bonus Status Credits to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account with the description ‘Card Transfer Bonus’. This advertised offer is not applicable or valid in conjunction with any other advertised or promotional offer.

The SC's are not much of a carrot for those of us who have status already. With the extension for another year, I do not need to think about another SC until November. (And it would not make a significant dent in my quest for 75K SC's for lifetime WP.)

It may be attractive, for those (I suspect relatively few) who are near qualifying for a higher level or some bonus.

Looks like this targeted offer is being sent to people that have transferred points to Qantas Frequent Flyer in the past.

Not many Australian credit card reward programs offer transfers to Qantas, with the exception of Amex Membership Rewards Premium Ascent (Amex Platinum & Centurion cards). There are more credit cards in the U.S. that would qualify, however.

Hmmm tough choice this one.

I also don’t need the status credits but the 25% usually only applies to over 500,000 point transfers.

If I end up cancelling my Plat Charge because of international travel restrictions and Amex doesn’t incentivise retention... then I will have to transfer in September anyway for no bonus....

The email states "fees will be automatically waived on changes or cancellations made to any Classic Flight Reward booking that only contain Classic Flight Rewards up until 31 October 2020." I wonder if this is only for new bookings or existing ones, and whether it's only for email recipients or the public broadly? I can't find any info on QF's site...

Received this too. The 25% bonus is tempting, but not sure I want to lock my points in with QF at the moment. The SC while useful towards LTG aren't really enough to push me towards this.

Also, if anyone who has an Amex card but not recieving these offers, just trasnfer the minimum amount to QF and that should be sufficient to trigger future offers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Again with the status credits for not flying.

You have to admit, it's a pretty smart move by QF at this point in time. No one is flying so very few people will move up a tier because of this. Ie minimal cost but should generate some revenue by the way of selling points to the card companies.

I pulled the trigger on this one but split it into <125,000 batches so they separately qualify for Points Club.

I figure:
  • 25% bonus on less than 500,000 is uncommon (usually 15%) and it kinda makes up for high points reward prices compared to others
  • the 40 SCs will contribute to LTG
  • it will make me Points Club plus and the 10% discount on Qantas Wine will be profitable :p
  • my Amex Plat is probably going to be cancelled given international travel restrictions/issues and the Virgin Lounges may not be a goer either .... so the points have to go somewhere.

Any link to the Qantas website with terms and conditions?
It’s targeted to those who have transferred points from a non-direct earn card in the past.

See @Daver6 explanation below:

I have Westpac Altitude that I frequently transfer to Qantas when they have bonus offers but never received this email.

I haven't received this offer either, I've received bonus points offers in the past.

Have a Plat Charge. Will just keep the points with Amex.

Yeah I (think I) understand QF's logic but to me it's not about moving between tiers or requalifying; it's about status credits being the one thing remaining in the Qantas program that are purely earned from flying. I think it's ANZ that offers a card with 75 status credits and from memory that was the start of the slippery slope.

Qantas really needs to do away with the nomenclature, Qantas Frequent Flyer.

I know where you're coming from with your angst about it. I think we need to keep in mind that QFF and all the various loyalty programs are just a game and the rules keep on changing. We play the game to maximise benefits with minimal outlay.

I get that status credits are normally only earned from flying, but these are surely exceptional circumstances. Most jurisdictions are telling people not to fly, and Qantas is operating less than 5% of its normal flights. So I don't blame Qantas for trying to earn revenue from things other than flying at the moment (e.g. through its loyalty program partners). Their loyalty division is probably the only part of the business that's still making money now.

I think we need to get away from this idea that status credits should only be earned by flying. Nowadays, most airlines award status based on the value that the customer brings to the airline, rather than number of flights taken. (That's why the U.S. airlines, for example, have brought in minimum spend requirements.) Somebody with a huge Qantas credit card spend that takes a few flights per year may be more profitable for an airline than somebody that earns status on discount economy status runs.

Besides, with the amount of flying everybody's (not) doing at the moment, very few people would qualify for Qantas status next year without these kinds of offers. This isn't good for Qantas either, as it would mean less people were "locked in" to flying with Qantas when restrictions are lifted.

You’d have to transfer 7,000,000 points to earn platinum via this offer.... if it wasn’t capped at 150 status credits.:p

Plus, like all status credit bonuses now, there’s a long complex list of what counts and what doesn’t.
  • Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards any Loyalty Bonuses, any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, or any Qantas Status Accelerator.
For an even more bizarre list, here is the list of exclusions for bonus status credits associated with QF’s Titanium Card:
  • The offer cannot be used to move you from Platinum to Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer membership nor can a Platinum One member use the status credits to retain the Platinum One membership status. Bonus Status Credits will also not contribute to Lifetime Status, Loyalty Bonuses, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Member additional benefits

I'm shocked that 0.2% of lifetime platinum isn't an incentive
LOL
