Hi All,

I'm planning a trip in mid OCT on QF11 and returning just under a month later on QF12. on QF11 we are planning on flying in F and the return in Business. I'm not able to confirm dates and subsequently book at this stage so my question relates to booking those classes 6-8 weeks out from departure. In F whilst I doubt ill get the exact seats I want id still like to either be across from or behind my partner in the 1-1-1 config. And on the way home in biz just 2 seats together will be fine which I'm less concerned about. Whilst this is a very variable question that would change probably even on a day to day basis will I have issues getting seats at least somewhat together in F if I'm booking close to departure? Has anyone who has booked flights that far out or even closer to the departure date than I'm planning on booking ever come across availability issues?

I've never had to deal with this issue before as I have always had flights booked many many months in advance.

Many thanks

I assume these are revenue (paid) tickets? Do you have any status on QF or OneWorld?

I wouldn't expect you to have seating issues in F on a revenue ticket until about a week out, when Plats and above on Award or Upgrade bookings might be getting assigned and select seats (although there are plenty of examples of such seat selections being changed!!). You'd have to be unlucky not to be seated next to each other 6-8 weeks out.

Business may be more problematical, the J cabin usually being heavily booked. 6 to 8 weeks out you should be OK but it will be easier if you have Plat status or above.

Hi Roo,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, they will be paid fares. I am a lowly Gold FF on QF.
