Hey everyone,

I have had a decent look through the forums though couldn't find an answer to my question (if I missed it please feel free to post the link). Also I wasn't too sure on exactly what forum I should be putting this on - the NZ or QF one!

A couple of my friends and I were planning a trip to South Africa next year though when I had a look into it I wasn't sure on how the point earning would happen on the flights.

On the flights SYD - JNB (QF64/SA7700) or JNB - SYD (QF63/SA7701) from what I understand it is a QF flight which is codeshared by SA. As QF is a member of oneworld and SA the star alliance, would I be able to earn points into my NZ FF account if I took the SA codeshare? Or would I be better taking the QF flight and crediting to my QF account?

I'm thinking I might do a bit of a RTW at the same time so put my flight to South Africa as part of that. I can do my planned RTW with either alliance, though as this is a decent segment would prefer if I got the points for it (probably one of the factors which will determine the alliance RTW i choose, the other factor being cost).

Thanks in advance for your help!

As the SYD-JNB flight is on QF metal, then I doubt you'd receive Airpoints on the SAA codeshare. If you wish to credit Airpoints with ANZ then you might consider flying to Perth and flying the SAA flight on SAA metal to JNB.

If you wish to credit QFF then it will not matter if you take the SYD-JNB flight or the PER-JNB flight as long as the flights are booked with a QF flight number.
