Expanding the SYD F lounge is intriguing.
Had been dreading the combining of the AKL lounges (foreshadowed a couple of years ago I think) but on my last visits the F lounge was standing room only so maybe it will help. Still feel like it's a downgrade.

Way too many WPs + these days..

Expanding the SYD F lounge is intriguing.

Just to clarify: while the Qantas press release said the SYD F lounge would be "expanded by 15 per cent", I sought clarification on this and Qantas said the lounge itself would not be expanded by 15% in physical size by growing larger – rather, seating capacity will be expanded by 15% within the current footprint, ie making better use of the space already there. RIP Library?

There is quite a lot of dead space in that lounge...

SIN won't happen if they cannot get more space, and honestly I don't think QF sees SIN as an issue.

SYD J INT lounge has been a sad joke for a long time, very happy to see something being done about it, along with the F lounge expansion which has also become a joke during peak mornings with several lines forming to simply get a seat!
This is what I was thinking while reading this. The redevelopment of SIN is moving at a cracking pace, and there's a lot of international and business interest. I'm not at all surprised as there's a real premium on space at the moment.

If QF can find extra space at ADL for the new J lounge then surely expanding SIN shouln't be a problem? Wait.

You need to negotiate with the airport owner. This can take time and obviously cost and contract terms comes into consideration.

Remember Project Sunrise is probably going to reduce numbers going through Singapore again so QF may not want a long term contract.

Be a shame if the library goes. Is my place of choice in the morning or lunchtime until the bigger flights depart.

More of a tongue-in-cheek about ADL ;)

Report today in Hobart Mockery Mercury that the QF lounge at HBA will be a new lounge, in the part of the terminal that got upgraded last year, before the Master Plan ground to a halt. Based on BNE lounge design. (Article is paywalled)

That would be hugely welcome, but I wonder where the space will come from. I'm thinking the present Saffire lounge area, plus offices. This may even hold out hope for a Virgin lounge, if they shuffle the spaces around significantly!

'Slapped in the face': Qantas workers fume over $2500 'reward'

I am amazed that QF think they can impose conditions on the $2,500 payment ($2K cash and $500 in travel vouchers) to certain staff (they have to sign their new wage deals before they can receive their payment). To me that's coercion and should not be tolerated.

Apropos their 'Stand Up' campaign, it doesn't seem very inclusive, but I guess it qualifies as 'diverse'.

Yep: Rumour confirmed: Aircraft Engineers’ Union slams “dirty trick” by Qantas

To quote from the SMH article

Workers who leave the business before their next EBA is negotiated will not receive the payments. About 3000 employees not engaged under EBAs, mostly managers, will receive the bonuses straight away

So, for something that is supposed to be a reward for work already done, it's hard to see why people who leave before the next EBA is signed (which could be years away), are excluded.

As far as I can tell, the vast majority of operational staff are currently excluded. All pilots, engineers, and cabin crew. I guess the concept of happy employees being good for the business is something that wasn't part of their IR training. You can bet it will be on peoples' minds when asked to do that bit extra!

AJ really has little to do with the numbers out of QF.

When fuel was going through the roof the share price tanked and people were demanding his head. Fuel charges eventually dropped hard and Lo and behold the share price is up and he is incredible!

The only thing he is consistent with is screwing the operational staff and keeping fuel surcharges active.

So what is your solution for Singapore?
I’m a data point, not a lounge designer. An F lounge would be an obvious option, and it needn’t be adjacent the existing one. And all the other solutions above.

I could be wrong but weren’t there separate F and J lounges long ago before the refurb and flights via DXB, which became the BA and QF lounges. Cheers skip

Indeed there were, and they were shared by QF and BA under their partnership, which was dissolved once EK entered the picture. The 'custody battle' saw BA take over the former F lounge and QF the former J lounge, based on the size of each lounge and each airline's respective passenger numbers.

They should be giving us shares, instead of doing a buyback.
Yes, with a buyback we do get $, but in the end, our share holding in this "Australian" is slowly going down.
I had 165 shares, with QF bought when they were about $5 each or so, now I have 155, with this upcoming buyback, it might go down to 130, soon, down to zero!
Pity.
