I purchased an Emirates ticket Beirut to Sydney via Dubai and Singapore with the last leg on Qantas. The Emirates flight was late into Singapore so the QF went without us and Emirates transferred us to a Singapore Airlines flight to Sydney. I bought the ticket as a QFF member. Should I be entitled to frequent flyer points for that last leg? If so, on which airline? I'm a Kris flyer member too but as I say I registered as a QFF member when I bought the ticket. Has anyone had any luck in this situation?

Re: points and missed connection

I think you'll find in the T&C's they say you won't get QF points in this situation. I'd be inclined to do a retro claim for Krisflyer and see how you go.

you could ask for an 'original routing credit' - this was an involuntary missed connection. you could apply for this by ringing the Qantas Frequent Flyer call centre. Alternatively, if you want the points on Kris flyer, make a retro claim through SQ.

Re: points and missed connection

I've heard of cases where people have got both ie the ORC via QFF then credited the carrier they ended up flying on to the relevant program.

You must be enrolled as a frequent flyer at the time of travel (which the OP was) to make retroactive claims unless it's the airlines own ff program as they usually offer a grace period in which to enrol and subsequently claim.

Thanks MEL_Traveller, it's good to know what I should be asking for

Re: points and missed connection

You're entitled to original routing credit regardless of which airline you ended up flying. Has happened to me many times.

Re: points and missed connection

Do QF first then a retro claim with SQ. Just save your ticket and send in the claim when QF comes through with their final decision. I did a retro one when China Southern was late and I missed my connection, they put us onto SQ instead. Not a problem getting the points through SQ (but then again, I never claimed any with China Southern)
