QF Platinum Recognition on flights

Enthusiastic at-seat greeting from the CSM on QF27 in J a week ago, which my (SG) companions did not receive. A nice, friendly touch with some conversation, which felt natural not forced. It was a great crew overall so I suspect the CSM was setting the tone.

Got the usual welcome back getting on the plane in Hong Kong last night but not much more.

Meanwhile, Cathay Purser from SGN to HKG earlier in the day came for a long chat at the seat.

Same here - on almost every single CX flight I am taking. Not just out of Singapore.

Also, free J upgrade on CX earlier this week from HKG to HAN. CX goes above and beyond for me.

Flew QF93 on 20/12. No platinum recognition. Was in PE. Did see a passenger across the aisle who was greeted, got PJs and other extras. Unsure if that passenger was P1 or known to the crew. I’ll be flying back on QF94 later this week so will be interesting to see if there’s anything

WHen I got to my (upgrade) seat in J today on 127 there was a hand written card for me from the CSM thanking me for my continued patronage (photo of card attached, but not message inside. I'm not clever enough to work out how to block out my name).
CSM was very welcoming and chatty.
Is this card thing new?

As a data point, I got one (and a Qantas keychain) last year on ADL-DRW on an E190. Everyone in J got one, if I recall correctly.

Also on an E190 from ADL-DRW when I was a WP received a cap and key chain, as did the CL in 1F but no one else and also same route but after reaching P1 got a handwritten P1 card and a block of Lindt Dubai chocolate.

That chocolate was like $20 a block at Woollies!!

Was it $20 good?!
Does it matter? It was more than what was paid for - so a bonus.

Whether one values that as $1, $20 or more will always be highly subjective. I suspect 99% would think it was a nice gesture (regardless of what airline it was).

The price of that particular block of chocolate was unusually high at the time of its release on the Australian market. Double the price of ‘regular’ Lindt blocks.

Because if that price, many people didn't buy it.

The question was, given the OP received and got to try it… was it ‘worth’ the $20 retailers were asking.

That’s unrelated to the gesture of the gift itself.
