QF PER-SIN cancelled, rebooked on Jetstar? Is this acceptable?

Are there others out there still waiting for the elusive callback re the 3K downgrade?? Was I gullible in believing it would happen? :( Tried the call centre tonight and was told the wait could be a few more weeks. Pretty sure there will be zero alternatives remaining by that time! In the unfortunate case that i am likely stuck on 3K, can anyone confirm/deny if there will be in flight entertainment PER-SIN? my kids will go bonkers without it!

I think you will have to BYO entertainment on 3K. Don't wait for QF to call you, as the longer you wait the less options there will be. Check the flight times of the other options listed in earlier posts, and if they suit your plans call QF as soon as you can to request changes you prefer. It may take a couple of attempts to get what you prefer.

I just tried to call and they have said Expedia Brazil have confirmed the change to Jetstar and I was not contacted, the agent said that nothing could be done. On my previous attempts to call, they said gradual calls would be made to affected customers and this has not happened.

They also said that the window for rebooking on other carriers have now ended.

WTF

I still can't get any help either.

I have contacted Qantas call centre and Qantas on Twitter. Also have tried to call Expedia Brazil without any luck.

I think it might be time for me to make a complaint with the Airline Customer Advocate. I just want to be able to deal with the Airline that has caused the change for f's sake!

Qantas did offer to refund the air fare if I wished to cancel the flight. I would then need to make a new booking-- but with whom ???
It would most likely have to be with Jet Star anyway & by the time you pay for the extras, the fare would be about the same I think.

You have the options of SQ and Scoot.

If you were to get a refund why would you go through the hassle of booking 3K when they do all of that for you?

Yes-- it has all been rebooked by Qantas to 3K with a $10 voucher for food & drink + 30 Kg luggage each--- so I think that I will leave it at that

I'd be moving to SQ

SQ fares are/were often quite a bit more than QF. If both legs were moved to 3K, I'd actually consider scoot, or at least a scoot price beat on 3K, unless wanting QFF points/SCs. I've seen regular fares with luggage ~$300 return, I am sure QF fares weren't ever that cheap (unless booked via .br) , and if you did price beat guarantee on Jetstar, could get that down to $270 including luggage.

Further follow up from QF on twitter still has them insisting that they can not change the booking, is there anyway for me to get them authorization to do so?

On the positive note, they did confirm that I should still have the options to change to CX or MH.

There are details in the Brazil thread about the hours you can contact them on, its quite restricted.

Does anyone have a link to QF commercial policy regarding the PER- SIN flights please?

I know the text is up thread, but I want to be able to reference the site when I call .Br, if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

If you are going to just change the flights then ring Qantas, they rerouted me via Brisbane easily. I asked about cancelling they told me I'd have to ring Expedia to get a refund, but they could change routings themselves.

Yeah, I thought this too. So I called QF and sorted it. Then I never got a new ticket reissued and realised that .br have to accept and ticket the changes. Have you got a new ticket yet, or can you just see the changes online?

Plus, this is actually about another fare that I do not want to reroute- 1 night in SIN with 12 hours travel way way is not a good weekend for me! :)

I got a new ticket from Expedia about 12 hours after the change.

Are you certain you got a new ticket and not just an "urgent, call us" email with the new details, which is what I received?

If so, that's great. Just don't want you to wind up at the airport with no confirmed ticket! I know mine definitely wasn't confirmed because my domestic ODU wouldn't go through.

Here's the body of the text in the email minus all the booking and flight info.

Expedia said:
Dear traveler,

Qantas Airways changed its itinerary.

Airlines sometimes change or cancel a flight. Qantas Airways did his best to find an alternative offer that offers minimal change your trip, and we update this information with your itinerary.

Your flight itinerary below is updated and you can always see your latest itinerary in Expedia.com.br .

Obviously that's been put through a translator :p

Good stuff.
Mine was very different and had no confirmation, just a "call us," effectively.

Wonder why the difference?

Re: QF PER-SIN cancelled, points earning on replacement flights

Sometime before 13 Mar (see first page of posts on this thread) I changed my PER-SIN flight to PER-MEL-SIN. And received a new eTicket.

Yesterday I flew those flights. On check-in, I was told - Oh you have already flown the PER-MEL sector. A call to the supervisor (or operations elsewhere) permitted the quite pleasant lady to check me in for both the QF flights and the connecting MH flights SIN-KUL-CMB.

As QF flights normally post promptly to the QFF program I checked today and the MEL-SIN flight had credited BUT NOT the PER-MEL flight. Recall this is a single PNR.

While I will wait a couple of days to query QFF, I think I will be VERY UNHAPPY if policy is that you only get credit for the international leg.

Thoughts comments?

My unhappy start to wandering

Fred

An update on this also .. my parents just finished a PER-SIN-PER (stayed on JQ). No food voucher, they were just served a meal as normal without having to ask and also had their full checked baggage allowance.
