I find that offensive. I'm an engineer and can tell you that's not a tasty meal ;)

Point taken and apology extended to all engineers (and baggage handlers, just in case one's an AFF member), daturtle. Perhaps my judgement was clouded by the fact that I have an engineer son......and he would eat ANYTHING!!
 
A good outcome. We got there in the end. Great to see Red Roo respond to this on AFF and assist with getting it sorted out.

I've felt reasonably indifferent towards the quality of Y meals in the last few months (I presume that's what they're aiming for). Never had anything close to a shocker like the OP.

So here's how it ended.. QF Customer Care called me up, apologised and explained that the complaint was being dealt with seriously internally (lots of emails between departments apparently). They offered me a gesture of good will in the form of a points credit. That works for me not only because points are useful but also because it costs something, and IMHO if that happens too often then it becomes better business sense to fix the original problem instead.

Thanks Red Roo for following up and ensuring the complaint was taken seriously.

In the meantime I think I'll remain a 'QF vegetarian' in Y for the time being :D

It is good they acknowledged the complaint handling - whether or not it results in a change in catering standards I would highly doubt. Hope the number of points was worth the effort.
