I have not been on for a while, and the forum may be full of similar experiences in other threads; too many to search. But given the amount of bagging QF sometimes gets, I thought it worth giving them a for renewing my Gold FF despite this year being well short of required credits. Have been Gold for several years, and just missed Plat by a whisker one year. That is presumably the explanation, but nice gesture all the same.

Congratulations on being "Comped".

When/how did you find out you were being extended?

I suspect with your "missed Plat" comment that you earned over 1800 SC during the last three years. Qantas have been known to do this a lot taking into account your three year average earn.

Yep. Average in 7 years is around 800 I think just doing rough in my head, and if we call current 17/18, "big" year was 15/16.

Just got the envelope put on my desk, which I expected to be Silver (lifetime that anyway), and there it was, all shiny and Gold!

Nice. Sometimes if it shows up as high status still online it corrects to lower status in a few days (allowing for flights flown to credit e.g. on partner airlines), but if you've received the new card in the mail already you've definitely been comped. Fantastic!
