Taking a trip to MEL for a photo-shoot tomorrow and was pleasantly surprised to receive an email offering me lounge access in ADL prior to the outbound flight - for a nominal fee or FF points.

Clicked on the link and it tells me they can't retrieve the information. Called up to see why, and I'm informed that either a) lounge is full or b) the designated spots have all been taken, ie: first come, first served.

Rather contradictory to the info on the email that states:

"But hurry! This limited-time offer expires when check-in closes for each eligible flight."

1st world problem I know, but why offer this if you're just going to rip it away?? (CX at least allow you to show your card at the desk before taking 9,000 FF points while you wait.) SMH

Great idea, but huge fail in the execution . . .

Out of curiosity, what was the cash/points asking rate?

Its a targetted offer, so even if OP quouted info to you, you won't get access unless they send you an email offer, and you make it past the front desk, or you upgrade from Y to J, or you get partnered in.
They (QF) were quoting a $ of $49 a while back, if you google it, it would probably still come up on Google search.
ADL is a nice modern lounge, but I would not do it.
Compared to QFd BNE and once the MEL QFd are done, those 2 are better use of $ or QPoints.

They were quoting 6k or $45.

I do agree MEL is much nicer, but they weren't offering, so ADL was fine. Meant I could grab a decent coffee and some breakfast, so burning the points wasn't a problem for me, or I could have included the $45 in the expenses.

My major issue was that they offered and then swiped back before I could even take it up. Had to confirm it was all ok as there was no refunding if I changed the flights and 5 minutes later, it was gone.

Guess it was another QFe . . . ;)
