Travelling to SFO tomorrow (22 December) from MEL via SYD with my wife and 16-year-old daughter on Qantas.
Qantas rep on Twitter is telling me that as QF Gold I can only guest one of them in at the Domestic Lounge, but more importantly, the SYD international lounge.
We are also flying home LAX-MEL and the Twitter rep was steadfast in saying that only one guest was allowed at LAX, too.
But as my daughter is 16, she falls into the 4-17 age group, which is outlined in the following:

[h=3]Lounge Access[/h]
  • A world of lounge privileges
    Gold members can enjoy access to Qantas Clubs and International Business lounges for you and one guest and up to two children (aged between 4 and 17)35 when flying on eligible Qantas and Jetstar flights. Plus you also have access to over 600 oneworld airline lounges around the world when flying on eligible flights with a oneworld alliance airline. View oneworld lounge locations.
International Lounge access before your flight

  • International Lounge access is also provided to one guest and up to two children (aged 4 - 17 years)35 who are travelling with you on the same Qantas, Jetstar or Emirates flight. If travelling on a oneworld operated and marketed flight, you are welcome to bring one guest into the lounge.
Domestic Lounge access before your flight

  • Qantas Clubs located around Australia offering a place to unwind before your next domestic flight.

so, read the T's and C's to the Qantas reps, better still, print them out and carry them with you, this kind of silliness from lounge staff in the past has been canvassed before, and the same advice was forthcoming. carry your proof in hard copy

The twitter rep is right that you get one "guest". IIRC for QF lounges as your daughter is classified as a "child" she does not count as a "guest".

This is what I would have said if not already posted.
My experience has always been good taking kids into a QF lounge with status. It never hurts to take a print out though ;)

From my understanding and with past experence, 17 and under are classified as children not guests. Your wife will be your guest.

One guest over her age - you'll be fine to take her in as she is not counted as an adult yet :) You could take one adult plus her.
