Qantas is streamlining the customer experience and consolidating all arrivals and departures to Tom Bradley International Terminal, Los Angeles.

From 1 May 2014, QF16 (LAX-BNE) departures will move from Terminal 4 to Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).

The last departure from T4 will be 30 April 2014.

Customer benefits include reduced bussing between terminals, access to the new Los Angeles Business Lounge and the newly refurbished Westfield shopping experience.

TBIT arrivals and departures include:

  • QF11 SYD – LAX, QF12 LAX – SYD
  • QF107 SYD – LAX, QF108 LAX – SYD
  • QF93 MEL – LAX, QF94 LAX – MEL
  • QF15 BNE – LAX, QF16 LAX – BNE (from 1 May)

Just in time for me :) fly out of there in June on QF16. Now just to wait for the new FLounge to open. I've heard later this year, has anybody heard a firm date?

On QF16 in April (arriving on AA to T4, so thankful for that at least).

I have another QF16 in June though.

(FWIW, I used the *A TBIT lounge on the weekend - was OK - hopefully the *O lounge expansion is finished soon.)

Will have to use my connecting AA flights (typically) to get my Cinnamon sugar pita chips hit. Super Target near work in the US only sells big sizes that deflate on the way home. :(

That's good for inbound connecting to qf107 to JFK, but the T4 departure is actually better if connecting from elsewhere in the US (on AA) as no terminal change required.

So they say less bus, but IMO i'd say more for those on qf16 who come in on AA flights.

No bus for this l'il black duck!

The airside connector between T4 and TBIT will open next year. Until then at that time of night is generally quicker to walk landside and resubmit to security.

Maybe, but it is nice to be in the bus while its dark in the middle of the airfield, get up close to some of the birds..

Fair enough - but we are talking about LAX!

The bus can take 20-50 minutes - and disperses PAX at the far north end of TBIT. From there it's another 5-10 walk to whatever lounge back at the central core.

I have experienced both extremes. Aircraft (rightly) have priority and if even look like it might cross the bus's path, the bus driver must stop and wait until certain it's clear. Also, inside the bus it often hot, sticky and with assorted fumes.

I guess the magic of seeing aircraft from the tarmac has waned for me, especially at LAX when the long bus trip is cutting into my lounge time ...

Don't get me wrong, I am somewhat at the same place, but after a week in a conference room/hotel then anything is almost better.. and with the lounges they way they are now, I don't normally go to them, when the new ones open that will be very different

Great news for BNE pax. Now if we could get AKL-LAX back that would be fantastic!
