There are reports of PAX being sent to the QF international transit lounge. But the domestic QF Club as a minimum.

I was sent to the transit lounge instead of being allowed into domestic J lounge last week. Not sure how long this will be the case though.

Key question - which is better?

I assume the transit lounge is a step up from the QP? If not the J lounge?

Transit lounge is a big step up from the QP and I'd say a step up from the domestic J lounge too.

I'm pretty sure prior to Covid though you were sent to the domestic J lounge even if only SG in Y.

Thanks. Usually for QF international flights QF Gold have access to the J lounge. Would this not apply in PER with the domestic lounge?

See @Daver6 ’s comment above that you could get Dom J but Int Transit Lounge probably awaits.

PER is probably unique with the combined Dom/Int terminal and choice of Lounges.

Int transit lounge was heaps better than the J lounge when I went through on 8 May.

Transit lounge opens around 9am.

Depending on FIFO flights, the biz lounge is usually full of them as I recall…

There were quite a few FIFO in their hi vis, even though it was a Sunday morning, but I was thinking more of the food and drinks on offer in the int lounge. The bar was open in the int lounge even though it was 9am (no I personally didn't indulge at that time of day :p but quite a few were) and the hot food offerings were also much better. I'd had breakfast on the dom sector and wasn't that hungry but the hot food in the int lounge looked so tempting that I had a second breakfast :p Plus the service was good. I got a personal greeting and conversation when I arrived, and I was approached several times while seated and was asked if I would like anything, and the dirty crockery and glasses were whipped away promptly (not like the J lounge where on my return journey I sat next to someone else's dirty crockery for 45 minutes before I eventually flagged down a staff member who was happily walking past ignoring it).

As SYD mentioned, Perth is a little unique. The J lounge is a domestic J lounge, so still only available to WP and above - even if you're flying on an international leg. The transit lounge is definitely a nicer and newer fitout, but I was kind of looking forward to the pizza bar before my trip so was a little disappointed when told the current setup.

The Transit lounge is much better than the QP though, so I'd go straight there tbh.

I have a flight from ADL>PER (on QF), arriving after 9pm. My next flight isn't until 2am PER>KUL (MH). This is in September.

Will there even be a lounge open that I will have access to at that time? Flying in business both flights.

Looks like there are nightly flights to MEL/SYD around midnight so the domestic lounge at T3 will be open and you should be able to hang around until boarding commences before you make your way to T1:

You're going to need to change terminals. Unsure how they works these days. I'd imagine there is a bus but I'm not sure.

MH don't list a lounge partner for PER T1 Lounge Partners . Previously they would have used the QF lounge in T1 but that's no longer open.

There's the Aspire lounge but the hours don't look ideal according to Aspire Lounge Terminal 1 International | Perth Airport Digital Marketplace

IF you have QF WP status you can access the domestic lounge on arrival. That should be open until around midnight I'd have though.

Importantly, you need to change terminals.

But the QF domestic lounges are open until last flight. The red eyes to SYD/MEL - as mentioned above. They reopen 1 hr before the first flights - which could be 4 or 5am but after your flight out.

Importantly, you need to change terminals.
When the domestic lounge at T3 closes at the time boarding commences for the midnight flights, the 11:40 pm terminal transfer bus from T3 would get to T2 next to T1 by midnight...

I am a lowly Bronze QFF, but wouldn't the fact that I'm travelling in business on both the incoming QF and outgoing MH flights mean I would be allowed access to the QF Domestic Business lounge?

Thanks for that link! It seems the bus runs all day and night. So could even try and hang out for the bus after, unless they are very strict on the lounge closing time and kick you out bang on?

Assuming the Qantas transit lounge would be a no go? Both because I won't be on an eligible flight, and that lounge probably not even open at that time.

That's a fair point. In theory it makes sense.

The QF intentional transit lounge is past immigration in T3. You'll be clearing immigration at T1. Also, I think it would be closer as you point out.
