We think that we should quickly post that we had a happy ending to our QF hotels booking "technical error" (haven't replied to my previous thread so new readers don't have to read through from the beginning).

After several days of phone and email communication we received a reservation confirmation for a suite within walking distance of the London Excel. It wasn't the suite that we originally booked, but an alternative hotel (most would say better hotel).

Mal, thank you, we will never know whether your PM to Red Roo was the "international management team" that approved the eventual booking.

MEL_Traveller, thank you so very much for your advice, it helped us to keep in mind that our request was reasonable.

mannej, we think it was a genuine error and not a case of bait and switch, but if it was - it back fired this time!

Perhaps I will post an introduction including QANTAS Junior Jet Club membership since 1966(? showing my age now). If anyone else remembers our old V-Jet Club log books, please reply to this post!

We love to travel and travel as much as we can. This was our first hotel booking disaster and we suspect that we owe our thanks to this forum for our hotel booking very happy ending.

Thanks and Cheers

Happy to hear the matter was resolved to your satisfaction! I might use QF Hotel again...
I'm not sure how these "technical errors" can be avoided other than actually calling the hotel and confirming the booking directly with them.

Thanks for the update!

I presume (hope/assume) the new arrangements are at no additional charge to you, or with a refund if the new accommodation was less costly than that originally booked?

Thanks for taking the time to let us know what the outcome was. Glad to hear things ended up ok.
