I once read somewhere online that the HBA QP is the worst in the land.

Today is my first chance to try it out, although I travel to HBA more than anywhere else in the world.

I understand the pub is after a renovation and I think it is fantastic for a regional lounge. See photo. Self pour spirits and runway views included.

In my opinion a fantastic lounge.

Well....if they keep it open in the evenings for J* flight departures, more of us would get a chance to try it out!

i dont mind the QP so much, i hate their airport scanners... only airport in the world that beeps and forces me to remove my shoes.

5h1ts me to tears.

The whole point of runway views is to watch planes - not sure a baggage trolley really does it for me :)

And when you deplane you end up landslide and have to reclear security if you're getting straight back on the plane...

I quite like it too, but I've never seen it anywhere near that empty.

Exactly. Most QF/JQ flights from HBA are somewhat bunched and then lounge is possibly the most overcrowded in the land. I've walked in to find every single seat occupied (even every stool around those small tables) AND about 20 or so people standing / milling around. I walked straight back out into the relative peace and comfort of the gate lounge!

Food & bev isn't bad "for a regional lounge" but that's moot if the place is crammed like an Emirates Y cabin ;)

Hobart is such a busy airport that baggage trolly changes are counted as movements.

I also like the HBA QP as its quite good for a 'regional' lounge. Although the fact that its located landslide and its almost always full is a bit annoying.

I have also never seen that lounge so empty! Have often walked in and then walked straight back out because it's been so full!

Ditto. Maybe it's different during daytime/weekends but for the morning/evening flights during the week I've only experienced standing room only.

Well the Mackay lounge, while spacious, lacks the basic of necessities ( a gents and ladies toilet ). One has to travel back downstairs and join the great unwashed.

Look forward to trying it out in a few weeks. Last time I was there it was a building site.
