Although I know they won't be as frequent as 767 services I reckon we will still see a few A330's on the syd-mel and syd-bne flights.
Agreed, makes a lot of sense.

But given that most of the East-West coast flights are already A330's adding the 10+ J* A330's would mean some would be used MEL-SYD-BNE etc
Their inability to do the golden triangle efficiently was one of the reasons JQ became their home, I doubt you will see many at all doing MEL-SYD-BNE, QF does not have the gate space at SYD thanks to project homecoming for a slow turnaround triangle, tag flights yes, especially for maintenance positioning but a pure golden triangle run of two segments, doubt it.
Most of the east west flights are not A330 ex BNE![]()

Yep I know that, but there are 12 or something A330's to come from JQ back to QF I think
They can't all be used on BNE-PER-BNE
So some will have to be used domestic to replace the 767's on MEL-SYD etc
I wonder if we might see some on routes the 767 did like SYD-CNS and BNE-DRW. Markis10 will know, markis?

All Jetstar A330s transferred to Qantas Domestic by mid‐2015
Agree that 330s replacing 747s for the International routes is the only logical solution without further schedule cutbacks
but it is at odds with the statement on pg. 9 (my emphasis)
In any event, think the above shows that the preso has a few holes in it.
It becomes even more problematic when considering that QFi and QFd are now separate companies - so which one will actually own the capital? And how much will they charge the other one to dry lease (or even wet lease it)?
Expect it to happen more and more as they retire 767s.
Probably a question more to the Fleet Thread but: how will QF maintain the passenger numbers on the triangle as the 767s are retired ... schedule 738s every 10 mins between MEL and SYD??
I can't see the A330s replacing ALL the existing 767s and there's that Domestic "line in the sand" which needs to be maintained.

There is only an 80 seat delta between a 767 and a 738, so three 738s offer same cap and better frequency than two 763s.Probably a question more to the Fleet Thread but: how will QF maintain the passenger numbers on the triangle as the 767s are retired ... schedule 738s every 10 mins between MEL and SYD??

docjames: there was nothing in the Fleet thread which suggests QF Group are contemplating 739s or 321s.
