Cynicism though in this case, could/would be appropriate with the wordings they use in that blurb above.
They might make this new SIN transit lounge like the current one at PER int T3, where you have to really be in transit from LHR to (PER) to MEL to use it.

That is in fact an interesting theory though I doubt it would be announced as a First lounge if so.

Provide some extra crumbs. Keep everyone happy. Keep everyone striving for that elusive lounge access.

Just keep piling on the DSC offers: three this year, hey what about monthly in 2019? Big bucks in the bank account and people standing shoulder to shoulder in the lounges.

Great news! QF should have anticipated this before switching back to flying the A380 to SIN but nice to hear they are going to take action.

I guarantee QF knew the lounge problems would occur before moving the A380s back to SIN but unfortunately the company cannot plan its network around lounge access. Also, pretty much any negotiation with any airport moves at glacial speeds.

I highly doubt the transit concept will happen in SIN. Imagine explaining to a SIN-SYD F pax they're unable to use the F lounge, because it is reserved for those going to/from Europe only, and they'd need to go to the J lounge instead.

I'd guess the economics of this lounge only work because Qantas will collect OWE entry fees from other oneworld carriers operating out of SIN. Restricting it to a transit lounge would limit revenue pax to the ~100 QF F pax going through SIN each day, which would not make financial sense. The fact they've got 240 seats in the plan is a strong indication it won't be a transit-only lounge.

Indeed. Though it is nice to visit a FLounge that’s got plenty of spare seats. It’s part of what makes it feel that much more special than a J Lounge.

I think most would believe that if 120 seats were occupied in a nominally 240 seat lounge, the lounge is full....

Obviously not all ~100 F pax over the course of the day would be in the lounge simultaneously - there's max 14 per A380 QF departure, so during busy periods you may get 42 (or thereabouts) QF F pax at one time.

Granted BA F pax could enter without status also, but you'd imagine they would head to the CCR instead. In any case I still stand by my prediction it won't be a dedicated transit lounge.

I wonder if QF & BA explored the idea of having joint lounges like they used to. I know the relationship has taken a beating but it’s got to be cheaper for both. Also considering many BA pax are transferring to QF metal (BA marketed) in SIN to non-SYD destinations, makes sense for the two airlines to work closely together at this port at least.

I wonder if we will get access flying JetStar out of SIN as a Qantas Platinum...considering we can access the Business lounge currently if flying 3K

I hope not; it is supposed to be a First Class lounge for Qantas passengers.

JQ pax are allowed in the SYD and MEL F lounges, what's different in SIN?

I'll be flying Qantas economy and using the First class lounge. I am almost certain I'd be able to use the First Class lounge also flying 3K economy.

I just need to make sure my 2 year old daughter behaves herself unlike the SYD SQ First class lounge visit in June ;)

You mean she wore hi viz? ;)
Not quite but the only other person in the lounge was not impressed and left early. And then he was sitting opposite me in First class and daughter visited me a few times. Think he was not impressed.

Has anyone heard any rumours about how progress is going with this? I need to book a UK run around Christmas and for last few years have exclusively worked my itineraries around HKG for the Pier. This was supposed to open Nov 2019 so I'm thinking if it's on schedule maybe I'll book through Singapore to check it out but Qantas hasn't got a good recent track record of getting new lounges finished on time.
