QF Fight Back - Price War & Double Points

The Qantas world wide sales confrence is being held this weekend in Sydney .... A little birdy has told me they will announce some great deals very soon for the general public ... along with the usual bonus offer they have for the FF crowd ... tho nothing that has not already been mentioned here ...

Our company directive has been to avoid Qantas until further notice.
So for all our international & domestic everyone is now using other carriers.
DJ domestically ... Emirates & SQ & Delta are now picking up the international travel from the team and the initial response is positive. So all our forward bookings have now stopped with QFi until further notice. The interesting part is we have not had our QF account manager contact our company with any incentive. May be they think we've just all stopped travelling.

The challenge for QF will be people are now starting to build status with other carriers. Everyone at the office took up the DJ status match. And for international it is J class as standard, so status is less of an issue from day 1.

I think until certainty of service is back in place and an attractive promo offer is put in place, then there may be the odd corp customer that never fully comes back. Which then means all these corp travellers personal travel also starts to move to the other airlines.

Really well said!

Here's hoping an offer comes through. I have been taking advantage of the DJ double status credit offer to shore up my DJ Plat for the next 20+ months - 500+ status credits with them in a month.
What's the story with the Virgin double status credit offer? Hadn't heard about it but it's possible (probable) that I could have missed it amongst the emails.

RSD - Virgin made a double status credits offer in mid-October - I think only to Velocity members recently status matched (at least according to the threads in the AFF Velocity forum).

The promo was due to finish on 30 October. But when Alan Joyce grounded QANTAS on the 29th, one of Virgin's responses (on the Monday following I think) was to extend the offer till mid-November.

There are adverts for the new one on the DJ website. Look at the scrolling main ads.

Does anyone know if different FF tiers will be getting special gifts?

It's certainly possible. The heat from virgin is intense and no airline likes their high value customers leaving. Qf can silently compete with the recent DJ status comp and pretend it's a recovery offer...

So, has anything been announced that I missed? I thought there was meant to be something last Friday?

Only thing I can see is a flat fare for 12 months on some domestic flights (no seasonal peaks and troughs), other than that nothing. :-|

Need to book a few flights but waiting to see if/what any offer will be.

Hopefully happens this week or i'll run out of time and have to book anyway.

Historically, wouldn't one expect a double status credit offer (at the very least for international flights) to go out to some QFFs (some who didn't get the June one, and some lucky ones who did) at the start of December?

I don't presume to have any idea what QF think is best for themselves any more, so I expect nothing - but am nevertheless holding back a few bookings just in case.

I would tend to agree with that. I think any offer will be aiming at increasing discretionary personal travel during the quiet period of mid Jan until late March. So it will be offered in December so that less business travel will benefit from it.

So much for the price war....

But John did you honestly expect one over the busiest time of the year? QF loads have bounced back very strongly.

I rekn we will still see some good pricing over the traditionally quiet jan/Feb.

Are you talking about loads this time of the year? I am not so sure about loads as many of my flights are being switched from 767s to 737s. Even a peak afternoon flight on Christmas Eve went to a 737 about 3-4 months ago.

Well let's hope so but those months are not good to me as I already have flights booked through to Easter. Will be looking for some cheap flights May and June before school holidays.
