I have bought a business class return to Santiago de Chile and noticed that today the fares going across are available on the same flights for about $1000 less.

I know there are change and cancellation fees which apply but before I contact QF, I’d be grateful for advice.

I am guessing that I need to cancel the whole booking and start again.

Is there any way that I can hold the part of the itinerary that is not affected by the price drop and just rebook the affected cheaper travel Australia to south America?

I would hate to cancel it all and loose some or all of the segments in the time it book to process my changes

You would probably need to cancel and rebook, but you should be able to do both of those things in a single phone call to QF. You would need to pay for a new fare but will eventually receive a refund of the initial fare, minus the cancellation fee. Just make sure that the cancellation fee is less than the fare difference.

Ta for that.

Personally provided the cancellation fee was worth it, i would book the new ticket first and then cancel the old one. Generally fare rules state any cancellation can be used against future travel of a 'higher fare'. In your case you want the lower fare so you can just keep the credit voucher for later.
