I suppose if there was ever a glimmer of QF returning to Germany, that is now gone forever, surely EK are already pushing hard for their own rights.

EK have been pushing very hard for ages, but the German government won't budge on it, which helps "protect", notably, Lufthansa.

Gee, I thought that - as "market leaders" - the whole world would follow the Australian Government's liberalisation of the aviation market so that the whole world could enjoy cheaper flights and better service.

Those poor Germans.

Depends where you fly from. If you wish to stick to the QF flights from MEL/SYD this may well be the case, but as QF has left everything from Perth to be handled by EK now, we recently got some very good (just over 2 hours) connections to FRA.

I wish that old rumor of QF flying into Berlin had become reality :-| Anyway- I also noticed the extremely inconvenient timings for travel into Germany. Most connections via Dubai mean layovers of 8,9 hours- only the destinations in the UK look quite seamless, the ones to Germany not so much.
My reply above should have quoted the original post. Should make sense now
