Hi All,
First post here. I need some clarity.

I am a qantas gold FF, doing a trip next month Mel>DXB>CPT on an EK ticket not QF. I have a 14 layover in DXB. Not worried about that I'll manage to fill that in sight seeing. However a shower and some peace wouldn't go a miss. What lounge privileges do I get as a Qantas Gold FF on an EK ticket. Your advice is much appreciated.

Thanks
J

You should be fine. Business Class lounge. Make sure your EK ticket booking has your QFF # associated with it.

Cheers Colster, the web was giving mixed messages so needed some clarity. It was the last thing I needed to have to sit about all sweaty for that length of time. (First world problems I know)

My understanding is you will not have any recognition of QF status on EK ticket.

If you want QF status recognition - you need to have a QF flight number while flying EK metal.

You can earn QF points on EK booking - and that is all - again from memory.

I know I once wanted to Fly QF130, and no EK code, but no way to fly QF130 and get status recognized - so didn't fly.

Just a note from the Qantas website, but not convinced.

"Gold Frequent Flyer

Next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas^ or Emirates^ flight number."

Not correct - you are confusing a number of things here, namely QP Lounge access on EK and the points earning situation on an EK number vs QF number.

This is straight from the QF site.

Yep, as a QF WP travelling EK marketed/operated I get treated almost as an EK WP.

Also note, that if this is on the one booking; with a 14 hours layover, the OP should be eligible for "Dubai Connect".

Last week, I was in Dubai Business Lounge flying EK with Gold QFF on ticket...no problem getting into the lounge..

Also note, that if this is on the one booking; with a 14 hours layover, plus a few other ducks line up, the OP culd be eligible for "Dubai Connect".

Not quite, Dubai Connect is only eligible if the onward flight is the next scheduled for that destination and > 8hrs (or 6hrs in J and above). If there is a flight to CPT between when the inward flight arrives and when the onward flight departs on your itinerary then you are not eligible. There are 3 flights a day between DXB and CPT.

This is correct, but if the OP is arriving on EK409 (at 13:00), the next onward flight is not until EK772 at 03:50.

Not sure if the fact that the other MEL-DXB flight connects to CPT in under 8 hours would make the OP ineligible for Dubai Connect though?
