QF DSC - Domestic only | Book by 30 Mar | Travel 31 Mar 2021 to 28 Feb 2022

So looks like my first DSC trip is going to be cancelled already (BNE for Easter)

If I cancel and use the credit later for a new booking - is it guaranteed to count for DSC (I know in the past same PNR meant it did, but that was never official right?)

I’m wondering whether I should rebook before tomorrow just in case.
Still DSC if
Yeah, bit of a wait and see. Mixed messages from Gladys “we‘re not closing the border” but also “if you’re going to brisbane for Easter change your plans”.

I’m on a QLK 717 NTL-BNE, past experience tells me QF will cancel and leave it to JQ.
There are no penalties to changes or cancelLatino’s of bookings. I would amend your current booking to a new date and/or destination before the qualifying period expires.

Was going to book flights to BNE in late May, sigh, not going to take the risk now!

Yes likewise not taking the risk with QLD. Day trip to Sydney from Melbourne looks to be the safer bet, if not as good a deal.

Hotel quarantine accepts international travel again on 8(?) April. I wouldn‘t be surprised to see a further outbreak in Melbourne.

Easter to Melbourne should be fine, but anything after that is not without some risk just like travelling anywhere else in the country.

That won’t stop me planning some domestic getaways from Melbourne that I would have wanted to do even without this DSC offer but who knows if I’ll be able to go on them.

Same, I completely expect multiple Melbourne outbreaks in the future from HQ.

I've still booked a few trips, half expect to have an issue at some point & if so, just hurry fly back, always work something out, I don't intent to be locked within Vic for 2 years.
Airlines giving flexible ticket conditions.

Just roll with the punches.

And here was Qantas thinking it could earn some extra money by rolling out the DSC offer. Timing is everything....

My flight to OOL isn’t until the end of June, so I’ll keep the booking in place. Many others will have booked for later in the year and should be okay. I wonder if borders and self isolation will remain the same for fully vaccinated travellers?

Whilst I could have done my DSC flights almost immediately, I've chosen to wait for (quite) a few months. I am in no hurry to re-qualify. I was even looking at November (that way it'd have been after I'd received my jab), but settled on September, figuring a good amount of the country would have had the jab, and the likelihood of borders going up would be reduced.

I've also picked a little later as I'm hoping the experience might be better than right now. Whilst I'm going through a transit airport (MEL) I also made sure I was going via MEL each way (normally I don't care which transit stop I'm going via, I care more about the aircraft type), I also have to admit that I was a little nervous going via MEL, given they do like their lock-downs down south, but it was a $700 saving on a J seat going via MEL (and the same SC's) compared to SYD. I'm just hoping on the day if MEL is locked down again QF will allow me to go via SYD at no charge (and still in J).

This may be a dumb question but here goes:
To take advantage of the DSC offer by Qantas I've booked a return flight to CNS - outbound in discount business and return using using points.
According to my calculations this should give me 60 x 2 SC's - sufficient to maintain Gold through the status match offer.
Given that both flights are on the same day are Qantas likely to deem it as just one ? Secondly, is it possible that would Qantas may say that as part of the trip was made using reward points then the whole trip doesn't qualify for DSC ?
As said, it's probably a dumb question but I do wonder what small print conditions Qantas may find and use to avoid giving me DSC's

The poor people with 31 March as the end of their SC year miss out again!

Two years in a row.

I wouldn’t say that, I’m a 31 March guy and got 900/1200 SCs gifted as status support, and managed to earn the full 500 SCs to roll over (+50 for the loyalty bonus) so I’m starting 01 Apr with 550/1200, not bad really. A good DSC run and I’ve qualified to March 2023, and surely by then I’m back to flying overseas again.

I’m March 31 too and my post was carefully worded to not spark a “woe is me” thing.

I notched up 1,250SC last year and did not set foot on a plane.

But I’ll only have 250 to roll over so a few extra from the DSC would have been nice.

But I agree, QF has been generous for a business under pressure.

No doubt the enhancement, when it comes, will be painful.

This will count as two flights. You’ll earn DSC on the outbound and you would also earn them on the return (albeit at a reduced rate) if you are Qantas Points Club member.

At first the DSC promo excited me but now it think that excitement may have been a little premature. My status anniversary is the beginning of August. I only need 60 credits to reach the fast track to gold so the DSC promo wont really benefit me as I wont be doing enough travel between now and August to make it any higher than the gold status which is pretty much guaranteed. I planned for a few days to Cairns via Sydney just after the long weekend but will hold off until I get a better idea of if we'll even be able to go and come back. Being a new QF member and only just having recently taken my first QF flight I hope to take advantage of future DSC offers when I can properly utilise them for international travel. Do they typically apply to partner airlines?

Well I booked a few trips today I would have wanted to do anyway. Not sure I want to book the December(?) trip yet though. If I'm vaccinated and international travel has opened up I will want to go overseas instead of fly domestic then.

With a day to spare we decided to book PER-SYD-PER in April. We have New Year there too.
