Umm, I went a bit over board. $4000 and 23 flight booked. Resisting the temptation to book the remaining 21 flight required in 2016. Stopped by one voucher "still being processed" and hence inaccessible. I almost broke the voucher system, goes without saying that I always use gift vouchers, when booking that many flights that's $161 saved in card fees.

I've come close to this $ amount too - but sadly couldn't use vouchers as I'm mainly doing multi-sectors or flights originating overseas.

Here is a weird one. Trying to book some before midnight. Just searched for Melbourne - Sydney on November 30 and its only presenting options via Canberra. Northing direct at all!!!

That's the real hard thing about vouchers. Sure sometimes single oneway bookings work, but not often.

Booked a trip to Perth in June, yes going to Perth for 24 hours,

Booked Melbourne from the Gold Coast in business,

And Brisbane to Melbourne for 17 December, someone better organize dinner.

Paging, Jessicatam to the white courtesy phone.

Gold is locked in for this year (ended 31 July) and half way for gold requalification for next year.

Now see what VA can do for me to keep Gold, will just make silver at the moment.

I ended up booking a trip to NZ for later in the year. The sale fares during this double SC promo have been few and far between, but I was reasonably happy with SYD-AKL-SYD for just under $400.

This will pick me up 80 SC and is a trip I was planning to do at some point anyway (although I probably would not have booked on Jetconnect if not for this offer). I now have enough travel booked to easily retain gold status for another year.

I've used this promo and the decent NZ fares to tack on some rather nice J class side-trips when returning from WLG or AKL. eg WLG-SYD-DRW and AKL-SYD-CNS. 320 SCs each for under $900 NZ each time. Not much more than a single CBR-SYD J fare (earning 40 SCs). Length of promotion period and wide travel window definitely helped.

Really? That's very strange. I only see direct options, with QF prices starting at $120.

I booked a few flights in the hours leading up to midnight however I've noticed that one of them was ticketed on May 5. I can't see anything in the T&C about 'ticketed' date, only when the 'flight booking' was made. Is it safe to assume that these flights booked on May 4 but ticketed afterwards will qualify for DSC?

Now that this Double Status Credit offer has ended we can go back to thinking about AA runs to Panama City.

I was the same (two bookings at ~22:15 ticketed at ~00:50 this morning).

One e-Ticket says the payment was made, and the ticket was issued on 4-May.
The other (which will net 160SCs) says payment was made and ticket issued on 5-May, which concerns me a bit.

I had immediate confirmation of the booking, allocated seats etc at that time, but I can't find anything that says "booking date" only what's in the e-Ticket...

Edit: What I do have is the spammy "Your Qantas flight unlocks exclusive hotel deals" email a few minutes after the booking, so I'm thinking/hoping it'll be OK.
I might give them a call at some point to confirm they have the booking creation date right...

I just wanted to confirm something re the offer.

I registered for the offer before the deadline last night but my travel agent booked my flights earlier in the day (04/05). I hope that is ok given all was done within the period ? Appears you had to do both to get the offer rather than step 1 (register) then the step 2 (book).

Just a bit concerned things have been done the wrong way around which would be incredibly disappointing given fare booked and its value.

Any feedback or thoughts appreciated - thanks,

RK

Really? What gives you that impression? It would have been much easier if Qantas had given everyone Gold status.

DJ tried that trick back in the day and laughed it off as a Friday the 13th joke.

I dont think anyone can really answer re the timing until someone in a similar situation posts success or otherwise.

It should be fine. I can't see anything in the conditions that require registration before booking. There was a promo a few years ago that explicitly said register first then book. But IIRC most promos since then haven't had such a condition.

I eventually took the bait and booked a ticket to the US last night before the end of the DSC offer. However, I got an email this morning saying that my booking was not yet complete because I hadn't completed the APIS and an e-ticket can't be issued until the APIS is completed. I got a booking reference straight after (last night) and there was also an impending charge on my credit card immediately after I made the booking. I should be right in terms of qualifying for this offer, right? If not, I'd be mightily pissed off. Who knows where the hell they'll be staying (as part of ther APIS) a year in advance???

Made my booking last night around 6.30pm ADL time. (Voucher first around 6.10pm, then flight around 6.30pm). Had to ring up this morning for my e-ticket to be sent, and it has now arrived with date 5 May, so I rang up again to double check the booking comes under the DSC offer.

It does, but the guy I spoke to at QFF said "yes, you literally just qualified for this offer by 4 minutes. Your booking was made at 11.56pm on 4 May. All our bookings are done on Zulu time".

11.56pm Zulu time is the same time that I rang QF this morning to find out why I hadn't received my e-ticket yet.

Glad I rang up to find out where my e-ticket was, because if I hadn't done that I might be having an argument with QF this morning about what the local time was when I made the booking on the website and whether my booking qualifies for DSCs (all 115 of them).

So the guy has told you a bit of rubbish. You're going to have to ring back. The cut off was 23:59 Kilo not Zulu.

You must register and book an eligible flight by 11.59pm (AEST) 4 May 2016

He told me my booking qualifies, and he said he was going to put a note in my booking to that effect. (His name was Isty, as a note to self in case I forget later). I'm not inclined to ring QF back and say that he was correct that my booking qualifies but for a different reason than the one he said. Unless you are saying that the fact it was not ticketed until this morning means it wasn't technically booked in time?

Booking near the end of the qualifying period can lead to needing to make a phone call to try to clear things up just like flying at the end of the permissible period to fly.

Where possible if you want to give yourself the best chance of avoiding a phone call it's best to book at least several hours before the qualifying period ends.

I'm kind of saying the later. (Probably more that the promo wasn't based on midnight Zulu time even if all bookings use that time standard in the back end). It doesn't qualify based on 23:56 Zulu that's after the booking period ended. But being the ticketing time I'm not sure if that's important. You have plenty of protections to argue the case later. As such I concur with not calling back. Wait and see.
