QF Double Status Credits February 2026 Promo

Anyone kept a track of how much fares have increased for this DSC promotion?
Strangely, some have come down.

SYD-MEL “Red-E” whY fare at the moment is $195 (Sale is often ~$139) but I can see flights for $185…. Also J for $589 when the “Deals” page is > $1k…🤷‍♂️

I'm sitting this one out, although I'm feeling conflicted doing so.

I've retained Platinum this year so I have status through to the end of July 2027. I've opted against spending my own money to push for P1, given my business travel has dropped off significantly (I've yet to board a plane this year...) and I have no personal travel plans.

Spending $8.5k of my own money to become P1 for the benefit of 'being' P1 through to the end of July 2027 and then dropping down to Platinum for August 2027 to July 2028, isn't worth the hit to my savings when I'm flying significantly less than I used to.

Booked Mel->BNE->AKL->BNE->Mel return in Business saver for $2100 giving me 580 SCs.

to save on hotel accommodation, I am coming back on the same flight in Auckland so have a 6-hour layover. Hopefully it doesn't draw suspicion with the immigration department for why such a quick turnaround.
Should be no problem - you can skip the NZ immigration completely and head straight for the lounge. Coming back to AUS is no problems either - no one will usually notice - had someone ask once and just said 'Status Run' and they laughed and waved me through

I was looking at MEL-BNE-AKL return when the sale was on as I was toying with doing a status run to get WP. The Business Saver fares priced at $2.1k then and $2.1k now. :)

But must... resist... I can't justify well over $2k just to get access to a few Flounges and a few other niceties (it doesn't help that, in the best traditions of Qantas' flaky IT, my Green Tier reward option's still not showing 10 days after requalifying, the 50SCs from which I'd need to get me across the line)...

I'll go from Bronze to Gold as it is.
No chance of Platinum.
Sitting this out, but watching with interest.

I am getting a bit nervous now around such a quick turn around. Dont want to be stripped search :-)

Anyone does this recently?
No need to be nervous about it as you're doing absolutely nothing wrong. The reality is that Border Force may flag your travel pattern and ask for more info, but as mentioned by @1A Please they'll ultimately wave you through without issue. As a data point, see the post below for what happened to me during my 3 x back-to-back OOL>AKL return trips over 4 days last September. Your single return trip will barely raise an eyebrow.

I never had issues with quick SC runs to NZ and return on the same day.
If they ask, I say it's for miles. Sometimes they will look at you like a crazy person but that's all 😂

Recent J sale Syd-Mel was $299…

The pricing mentioned above appears “Normal minimums” no discounts bearing in mind heavily booked flights don’t have the bare minimum pricing

I did a AKL status run years ago (I think 2016), smart gates wouldn’t work for me in AKL and I got grilled by an officer as to why I bought such an expensive fare for such a short stay. I tried to explain what a status run was but she wasn’t having any of it, called over her supervisor and as soon as I said the words “status run” he said to her “yeah, it’s a thing, enjoy your stay sir”.

Plenty of posts upthread have this covered. Nothing posted about recent changes.

Keep it simple if asked. “I’m doing it for rhe points”. Dont’t bother trying to explain status credits or mileage runs to the Kiwis.

Had the opposite at WLG.
Questioned about the immediate turn around, however the officer was quite interested in status runs!

I've already hit my SC requirements for WP this year - but will look to book in advance for next year...

Staying 2 nights for mini holiday. Leave MEL Friday morning then onto QF145. Come back on QF126 Sunday.

Booked via normal booking page inputting MEL-AKL return Business and scroll down for Sydney route.

Thanks :) I can't do the same - Too many kids sports on the weekend :D
