irrops. When something goes pear shaped, everyone is equal but some are more equal than others.

Exactly, was actually in this exact situation overseas twice last year and Qantas went above and beyond on both occasions. While I am sure I might have had some help either way, one instance I was one of 4 that continued the journey while the rest went to hotels.

No email to this P1 re original offer. Nor for extended dates. From memory P1s seem to be excluded from the emails (but can still access the promo). Happy to be corrected. But makes no sense to me.

Must not have hit the revenue targets they were hoping for...

Actually, it may have been intentional.

The original travel date was from 25/2, with bookings till 22/2.

This was extended to bookings til 25/2, with travel still from 25/2. It's pretty common for travel to start at end of booking period, so looks like it was more to push people to commit earlier.

But they have to do the sell it cheap later anyway, this marketing ploy is about SCs, not price. Myself, I would prefer to wait for the "Double points" at the moment as I can't justify WP and LTG already provides the other perks.

Slightly OT, but in the US QF's current pitch is "Buy one, get one half price".
And realistically how many people book airfares for SCs as opposed to those booking airfares on price? I'd say a very small percentage book flights for SCs and an even smaller book flights for status.

One problem Qantas, and Virgin, face is their recent sale airfares have been poor until the most recent sale where airfares returned to realistic prices.

Extension of double status credits appears to align with my view that this offer is no where near as generous as previous offers and, consequently, fewer people are taking advantage of it.

From NTL the only QF option is via BNE, and unfortunately the way those fares work is you will always pay for the BNE-NTL leg.

40 would be easy, just get a Jetstar Starter Max return to BNE or MEL.

Other than that, you're probably best getting the train down to Sydney.

NTL is a hard port to maintain status - I rely on US trips to stay WP.

So to get my 50 SC's to retain Gold I booked NTL-BNE-HTI return all in Y (they are Q400s so no other class) on Red eDeals for 40 SC's (80 Double)

Used my Amex annual travel credit so only $50 additional and booked two nights on HTI with Qantas Hotels having 9pts per $1.

Well all the options would be -

1. Didn't hit the targets that were expected

2. Did better than expected and hence extending it to collect more cash today for services that don't have to be supplied until 31/08/2019

3. It was always in the marketing plan from the start and its just something different

Who really knows???

I think Commonwealth travel is out. I got a targeted 50% in January and bonus sc not shown a week after flights. Usually 2 to 3 days. Bugger

I haven’t found anything that works despite lots of searching. This isn’t the first time that there was nothing with a price that says go for it.

I’m thinking I’ll drop back to SG unless QF lets me spend some points to retain WP. Then maybe take advantage of the next offer to level back up to WP.

I saw one advertisement by a QF competitor that showed how far out the pricing is for what we were trying to do.

Sorry if this has already been asked. But if a flight is booked in Y under the double SC promo, but later upgraded to J, what SCs get awarded?
(I have some work travel always booked in Y but I may upgrade the return leg from MEL-PER).

You'll receive SCs and DSCs as per the original fare code.
Thanks for the answer. That is disappointing as I also have a trip to PEK that I hoped would get DSC in J (original booking and upgrade both done during the promotion).

Must not have hit the revenue targets they were hoping for...
Keep on kicking the cash cow, big red Q
If the flight/travel period covered to the end of Nov I'd be re-buying tickets to qualify for DSC but ... well, it doesn't

I purchased one way J ticket it was at a good price and gets me to keep Gold with DSC.

Being business it’s reasonably flexible if I have to change it due to my injury.
