I have been offered a few over the years, once for helping restrain a drunk passenger, once for helping keep a nervous flyer in the seat next to me calm (took three weeks to get the finger nail marks out of my arm), and once for giving up my seat to enable a couple to sit together - didn't accept any of them as I don't drink.

Even if I didn’t drink, after experiencing at least two of those incidents would have made me take it up. 😀

LOL! The one with the drunk was a good one to show why drinking can be bad - CSM was a bit annoyed that he hadn't been detected by either the ground staff or when boarding. Drunken passengers needing to be removed before takeoff seems to be a regular issue when flying out of LAX.

Well, yes, drinking to excess has it’s issues. Like many things, can be endured in moderation. Like politics and religion. 😉

Not sure why airlines allow passengers to board who are not fit to fly, then have to remove them before departure. USA airline Gate Agents or FAs chatting amongst themselves and ignoring the boarding passengers wouldn’t help.

Nice bottle of red on QF when flying a 767 from WLG to SYD on our honeymoon 27 years ago. We're still married so must have worked. 😊

When flying J on SQ to Paris for our 40th wedding anniversary, the delightful crew woke us up about 2 hours out of CDG with a luscious chocolate cake and a card made and signed by all the crew, together with a bottle of very nice bubbles. I was insistent that the crew share the cake (one small slice at that hour was more than enough). A delightful surprise. I've had bottles gifted on domestic flights a number of times. It costs nothing to be polite and pleasant and crews cop a lot of cough at times.

Was given a bottle when we flew MEL-LAX in Y for our wedding last year (we were downgraded as our flight was cancelled and no other seats in J were available).

The crew felt pretty bad about our luck that we had champagne as pre departure and then a bottle gifted towards the end of the flight. Best way to deal with our jet lag once we arrived.

Only a couple. QF 737, bottle of red for swapping out of 1A so a couple could sit together.

More memorable, many years ago a bottle of Sir James flying Y on AN, after I found and handed in an oozing used sick bag from my seat pocket. Seems it hadn’t been removed after previous flight. Got switched to a seat further forward, but not so far forward I was up the front. Sir James possibly a consolation prize.

cheers skip

Had it happen twice - once in F lax to Syd, where I mentioned to my FA that I was sad about going home after our holiday. She gave me a bottle of Comtes as I left, which helped ease the pain. :)

travelling cbr to Mel I had a glass of wine with lunch and they asked if I wanted to take the rest of the bottle. As I was going to a girls’ weekend I gratefully accepted it and it was drunk that night.

In October Dr FM answered a page for a doctor on the flight from Singapore to London. She spent the whole flight looking after a sick teenager (she‘s nearly a paediatrician) and grateful FAs gave her a couple of bottles of wine just before landing.
