Hi all, purely academic at this point but I have a question regarding Qantas through-checking of bags to a AA flight on a separate ticket.
This morning I checked in to the LAX-JFK leg of QF107 in Los Angeles. I have a further flight from JFK later tonight on American Airlines to Toronto on a separate ticket. At check in I was told it was 'against Qantas policy' to check bags on to flights with a separate booking. When I said that I thought there was no problem doing this through QF/AA (being OW members and close buddies) I was told that her printer couldn't print a tag any further than JFK.

As above, it's purely academic at this point as I've resigned myself to the fact that I will need to collect and re-check bags with AA in NY, but just curious if anyone can confirm the actual policy for me in this instance? I have done this route before and had no problems checking bags through to my next AA flight on a separate ticket, so I'm just curious as to if I was lucky in the past, or hard done by today.

I'm a (lowly) QFF Silver traveling in Business if it is of any relevance.

Cheers,

Ox

QF policy is they will through-check bags to any OW member, regardless of which port it is done at.

FWIW I ahve had QF refuse to through check my bags to AY when on a seperate PNR. I had no issue with AY doing it on the way back though.
