Hi all - I'm new and have a question I'm sure has already been answered previously but can't find.

I am VA gold (work fly them) but on a cheap personal trip to Auckland next week the timing of VA/NZ redemption options were rubbish so went for a Qantas classic award on the LAN dreamliner instead. I am well and truly a bronze Qantas FF.

I've signed up for two credit cards in the last 6 months for the signup points - the 75k signup Qantas point black card from ANZ (with the no annual fee promotion), and the 110k signup Velocity Amex card. Each of these cards comes with 2 (only) lounge passes, 2 for the Qantas lounge with the ANZ black, and 2 Amex lounge visits with the Amex.

My question, which lounge would people recommend for the 11:30am LAN departure? I haven't been to either lounge before and I don't want to use two invites trying out both lounges on the off chance I'll be flying non AirNZ/VA with a guest again in the following few months. I'll be cancelling both cards early in the new year so won't get subsequent invites for a while...

I quite like hanging out in airports so I'll get there nice and early and will have a couple of hours to enjoy the chosen facility. Given the late morning departure (1130) I guess I'm looking for the better breakfast, better coffee, better view and whichever lounge is likely to be quieter so I can get through some work.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

I visited both last month. I was very surprised at how small the Amex lounge was. I preferred the QF lounge because it much a much wider range of f&b.

The AMEX lounge is nice enough, but Qantas would be hands down the better option.

Agree. AMEX Lounge is ok but quite small and no where near as luxurious as Qantas Business lounge. The latter has a great variety of food and drink and plenty of seating and tvs and papers. The AMEX Lounge has a much more restricted offering of all these things in a much smaller area.
