Hello All,

As we know EK only offers a single lounge in LHR whereas BA offers a dedicated F Lounge.Do you think BA will keep their lounge open once they move their own Australian ops to T5 (I believe that is the last BA F service not to have moved)? And if not where will F, WP etc pax go since the EK lounge would already be very crowded.

Perhaps QF and EK will take over this lounge and the old EK lounge could become Qantas Club?????

I would expect that BA would maintain an F lounge for their premium passengers, meaning Qantas Platinums would have access.

CX and AA are options should the BA T3 lounge close.
I would prefer the current BA Galleries F to either of those, have never been to EK Lounge

Maybe, maybe not, considering the only BA flights left at T3 will be short haul.

I believe BKK is to stay at T3 for now, but will be the only flight has F from that terminal. I doubt they would keep an F lounge open for 1 flight per day.

From the 1st April T3 will be a OW terminal with others EK etc, it’s unlikely that QF and or EK would take over either of the current BA lounges.
AA currently runs the arrivals lounge and I assume that they have more flights than QF into LHR so they are more likely.
I would think that BA would continue to run it for the OW members as they run T1, 3 and 5.
JMHO

EDIT: Sorry A330 I thought BKK was moving to T5 as well, it would be interesting to see them run a J lounge (if they did) but not an F. But who knows in this crazy mixed up alliance world.

Yes, but they will probably keep it open for the gold members of the BAEC.

I am confused, what is happening on 1st April to make T3 any more of a OneWorld terminal than it is today? Cathay and AA still operate their own lounges at T3 both with seperate business and first sections so it is not really right to say that BA will continue to run their existing lounges for the benifit of OneWorld airlines.

The question was from the OP “do you think BA will keep the current lounge open” My response was from the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] of April BA (other than BBK flights) will not operate from T3, hence the remaining airlines are OW (CX, AA, RJ, QF etc) and others.
Yes CX , AA run their own lounges, so who (if anyone) will run the current BA J and F lounge. I think that BA will continue to run them, just my humble opinion.

Actually the question was about the BA first lounge. But with the BA lounge in general they still operate a whole heap of flights from T3 (Lisbon, Warsaw (which moved from T5 when Spanish flights moved to T5) Vienna, Larnaca, Bucharest, Helsinki Gibraltar), all short haul though. So of course BA will still run the lounge, the only question is will they keep the first lounge? Short term the answer is yes, but who knows long term. Also who knows what Qantas will do in T3 when they get in bed with EK?

I wonder how the lounge access with affect people on BA tickets who have Qantas Club membership. At the moment there hasn't been an announcement of any changes but I only assume that Qantas Club members travelling on a BA ticket will no longer to able to access the Qantas Business lounges internationally

I am wondering the same with 2 return flights to the UK this year. Currently Qantas Club members have access to all Qantas international Lounges if flying that day etc etc and for me from Melbourne this means access to Melbourne, Singapore and on the return Leg, London (BA Business lounge) and Singapore. With the change to Dubai i have read that only Qantas Gold (and above) and Business Class (and above) have access to the Emirates lounge at Heathrow, with Bronze, Silver QC relegated to the AA lounge. For the $800 they charge i could purchase lounge passes and still be better off (not taking into account luggage etc), i though Tim and Alan said we would be better off?

What is the difference in quality between the AA lounge and the BA J lounge at T3 LHR?

I don't know if AJ said better off or no one would be worse off with the changes (let's ignore PER, ADL etc)

Yep, your right he did say not worse off, but i can think of lots of people who will be worse off.

AA lounge doe not have the same range of foods, drink, IT services as the BA Lounge, plus anyone can pay to go into the AA lounge...although the Qantas Club is like that...

So my flight in to Rome is on QF9 and goes MEL-DXB-LHR then a departure from T5 to FCO.

I presume that QF9 will arrive into T3 and QF10 (on return) from T3 as well?

On my LHR-FCR trip I will have use of GFirst in T5, however on the return FCO-LHR-DXB-MEL, will I be able to use GFirst in T5 or will I have to move straight to T3 and use what limited lounge that is available?

You will not have access to any lounges in T5 and will transfer to T3 for the LHR-DXB flight. You will be entitled to use the Lounge based on your Class of Service or Status. If you are travelling in F then you have a choice of the Galleries First, CX F, AA or presumably EK Lounges.
The Galleries F in T3 is smaller than T5 South but has pretty much the same F&B also an Elemis spa. It is the pick of the One World lounges in T3 IMHO

As Princess Fiona said, you use the lounge in the terminal you depart, there is no way to get into the departures area (where the lounges are clearly located) of a terminal you are not flying out of. Now considering you were hoping to use the first lounge in T5 that means your either flying first or are Emerald, in which case you can use the BA T3 First lounge, or as Fiona said any other OW lounge. Fear not with the BA T3 First lounge it is actually quite good, more or less a smaller, less crowded (normally but at the time QF10 goes who knows) version of the T5 lounge. So wouldn't be too concerned about having to use it.

I have also been in the CX and AA first lounges in T3, the AA one was an ok+ and the CX one ok-. The pick is of course the BA lounge. Of course you will also have access to the EK lounge, have not tried that one yet.

....I guess it's all relative!
