QF associated lounge @ DFW question....

Haven't been through DFW on QF as of yet - going later this year, and was wondering if the lounge Qantas uses is simply an AA Admirals Club or another club....


How does it stack up compared to the domestic Qantas clubs?

The QF lounge at DFW is a dedicated lounge so not AA. It is OK, but gets crowded close to QF8 departure time. This will be more of a problem when the A380 is on that route. So try to get there early, otherwise seating can be a problem.

Agree, it's definitely in the "OK" category. Better than being stuck at the gate. The F&B is somewhat limited, it's a very small lounge.
I would go to the AC either at the same terminal or to what I consider the best AC in DFW at Terminal A and hop on the Skylink to terminal D closer to departure.

Now that I have had to swap to DFW in order to avoid being downgraded to business, I will be using this lounge - is it still the same (crowded etc) and better to use the AC? Was looking forward to seeing the new F lounge in LAX but I probably never will now!

I have seen reference here to the existence of a new section reserved for First/Emerald.

Thanks I managed to find the thread - doesn't sound flash but perhaps a little quieter - we will see. We won't have much time anyway now that we have the much longer flight from SFO to DFW.

Yes, there are two sections. When I was there a little over a week ago, business class was directed to lounge number 5 (turn left at desk and end of the hall), and First was using lounge number 3 (turn right at the desk I believe). It was clearly signed on the TV monitors and passengers appropriately directed by the desk agent. Lounge 5 has a small "games" are for kids.

I only accessed the business lounge. Food was basic. Softdrinks, wine and beers etc in the fridge/counter. Other drinks available on request and delivered by the roaming staff. Bottled water in the fridge.

The biggest issue was access to showers. There were only 3 showers and lot of people wanting to use them. The lady looking after the shower facilities did not speak very good English and did not understand the concept of a waiting list. She just kept telling people "All full. Very busy". Eventually I stood waiting outside the lounge in front of her she got the idea I wanted to be next-in-line. Others then followed my lead.

It has been a couple of years but last time the wait for the shower seemed pretty long so I shot down, across and up to the D A/C and had a shower there (no waiting).
