Hi all,

Have a dilemma with an upcoming booking and looking for some advice. I'll be travelling in Y SYD-DXB-LGW and then return from somewhere in Continential Europe (probably CDG). I'm using the QF multi-city as I want to stop over in DXB for a few days on the way up. The booking engine doesn't want to play nicely in allowing me onto any QF metal.

As it stands, it's trying to put me onto EK419 (QF codeshare) which is SYD-BKK-DXB on a 777, with a trip time of approx 18 hours. I've never actually flown on a QF380 and would like to, but the cost is just under an extra $300. Considering the DXB leg is long enough on its own (14 hours), should I seriously be considering the extra $300 to be able to fly at least one leg on QF (and my first QF A380) over the indirect 777 with a midnight stop in BKK?

I've called QF and they're quoting more than the website!

Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated

Flew both yesterday; I'd choose the a380 over the 777 any day. Emirates have 3/4/3 on the 777 and its a little squeezy.

Don't rely on the QF website. Try pricing using ITA / kayak.co.uk / expedia (try a few different sites e.g. com.br / co.uk / com.au ) - you may be able to get the flights you want for a better price....
