But you are purchasing SYD-SYD ;). Its like when you purchase LHR-SYD you get points/SCs for LHR-SYD not for LHR-SIN-SYD or LHR-BKK-SYD as you may actually fly. Its all about what the ticket says!
[/aside]and if you leave you LHR-SYD flight in SIN do you still get points for LHR-SYD?

Re: The totally off-topic thread

There's an A380 on its way to Antarctica for New Year, and I' not aboard :( Oh, well, maybe next time....

Does the A380 have a nose-cam too, or just tail? Would be quite cool if you could get a video made after the flight from either camera, but I recall seeing the prices. Seems like it’d be more fun to take a trip that takes you onto the land.

Guess what?

I was just outside and heard an unusual* jet aircraft noise and looked up - that very 388 bound for the southern nether regions - if flew right over Patto probably around a third of its way into it's climb (the 737's are normally much higher by the time the get here).

I looked at my watch and it was 6:54pm.

* Don't get very many 4 engines jets over here since the demise of the 146's.

Yes, I've long wanted to do one of those cruise type things down there...

Hope it didn's startle the locals too much...

Most wouldn't even look up.

It was rather quiet, more of a low whoosh ...

I'm guessing it took off on 34 into the wind, long banking right and headed almost due south from there.

Would have been great views of the CBD from the Starboard windows.

Wonder if we will see any trip reports, might take a while, the aircraft pax had 6 NYE's to contend with

But $999 to sit in the middle of the aircraft in economy and not have the chance to rotate into a window seat doesn't sound like good value
I wonder what you can see from here....

My brother took this New Years eve flight to Antarctica, so I'll spike him up for a report.

But he also took the inaugural A380 flights from SYD/SIN and LHR, turned around and came back on the return flights.

He obviously doesn't fly much for work....

From on eof the TV reports I saw there was a group (at least 6) who had been on the inaugural 380 flight.

380 out of Sydney, but old 747 out of Melb.
What is it about Sydney that it gets the goodies and Melb get the baddies.:(

Melbourne did get an A380

Sydney also gets an A380 on 24th Jan

The 3rd service on 14th Feb is a 747
Got this from the newspaper's adverts, also rang Qantas about it during week. Was told only 747 out of Melb.
That's Qantas for you??;)

You should try ringing the operator, which is croydon travel or your friendly travel agent, I suspect the NYE flight has been sold out for some time.

Yes the next service is only a 747 so the operator and Qantas was correct. But there was an A380 which operated the new years service ex Melbourne on Thursday
