Going to LHR in November on the A380 (and return via SIN). I have the following seats allocated (on check my trip);
These were automatically allocated - are they likely to get shuffled about or am I safe in assuming they will be our seats when we travel?

AND, more importantly are they good seats? Seat Guru seems to think most whY seats are good (apart from the obvious)

Melbourne - Singapore
Sydney - Singapore 57A , 57B
Singapore - London 55A ,55B
London - Singapore 55J ,55K
Singapore - Sydney 55J 55K
Sydney - Melbourne

Domestic seats not allocated - I can do online check in

If on the A380 and you have no status, I find 80A/K to be the best seats.

I drink to that. People not having status will find it hard to get those seats, they are usually snapped up quickly. I will go as far as to say sitting in 80A or 80K with no one next to you is as good as sitting in Premium Economy, IMO.

Agree in terms of the comfort, the same can be said for 24F on the 763 international config (23F is missing). The two times I've had it, strangely enough even though it's been a really full flight 24E has always been empty which has made for a nice comfy 11.5 hour flight.

Actually, status would not come in to it - 80A/K are currently available to all.

I do note that they would no longer be available to non-status PAX after the initial pre-allocation limit is reached but it is highly unlikely they would still be available by that stage anyway.

Fully agree ...

Actually, these particular seats are much better than 24F, although 24F is quite a good seat.

You do not get disturbed so much by passing traffic, you have a wall to prop against etc ...

We (family of 4) are in 55E to G (SYD-LAX A380). I was thinking of moving to the last row of this section to be closer to the toilet and water sources (don't ask!) Also the back row avoids the annoying kid kicking the back of the chair and the boofhead who grabs your headrest and pulls down to haul themselves out of their seat.
Not sure if it's worth the hassle of mucking around or if that row would be long gone (probabaly).

Thanks for the PM. I presume you meant 55D-G.

So how long does it take before you get to disembark from the plane in these seats?

Are we talking 20-30 minutes or longer?

In MEL, it generally take 10 mins to connect the air bridges - Thank god for Smartgate/express passes.

In LAX, well - patience is the key ... also, with a family of four, I doubt the long walk from TBIT gates 101 or 123 to immigration/customs will take less than 15 minutes in any case.

Thanks serfty. Yes those are the seats - the reason I missed the D was that the reservation has them in the order E-D-F-G.
Could you explain the symbols? I assume a white square is vacant but what's the difference between a blue square and a blue square with a white X? And are there two 'missing' rows 79-80?

  • White is available for allocation
  • Blue is already allocated to someone
  • Blue X is unallocated but blocked from general allocation. These are generally only available upon request via seating control which is service generally reserved for Platinum FF's or special circumstances (infant requesting bassinet etc).
  • Missing rows generally means there is a door/galley at that location.

See this thread:

As for the 388, there are no row 78 on Qantas' configuration.

Thanks NM, serfty. Someone has grabbed 83G blocking that row for us so I'll just let it stand I think.

I think you meant 63G.

Have you consider 77D/E/F/G? They are still free (as of 5 minutes ago).
