Hi AFF brains trust,

Has anyone selected 1A/1K on A330 (international flight) at T80 and have had your seat reallocated else where when checking in / boarding?

Am I rolling the dice by selecting this seat, because of the bassinet or other reasons to get removed from it?

Generally unlikely, however personally if you can get 2A/K I'd go for that. Only reason for 1A/K over 2 is if you want a better footwell.

Coming into this thread late - i usually book rows 2 or 4 for my flights - but have an upcoming international red eye so looking for largest footwell on the a330-200

Is it only Row 1?

Or does row 7 in the mini cabin also have extended footwells?

I find row 2 is narrower than normal because of the curve of the fuselage. Row 4 and 6 are much wider. Although not as wide as the bulkheads.

1A and 1K are both bassinets and do not become available at T-80 even when we have P1 or CLs in the booking. They only become available when online checkin opens and sometimes only 1 of them will be made available.

Because they only become available at checkin it is likely that any babies will have already been allocated to those seats and you won’t get bumped.
Having said that, on QF35 last year a woman had selected 2A with her child and whinged on the plane that it wasn’t a bassinet but the P1 in 1A was happy to switch with her.

In my very extensive experience, 1A/K are NEVER available at T-24, even if you ring up and ask, .The only way I have found to get them is by asking nicely at physical checkin, and even the agent always has to call someone to get it cleared.

I have found on every A330 flight (15 over the last two years) that they come available every time. You have to check in right as it opens though because they get taken within the first 30 minutes I find.

I still prefer row 2 but understand that the footwell in row 1 is much more comfortable.
