QF A330 in-flight entertainment problems

Can anyone give the the address to post my complaint letter to?

Flew the QF A330 SYD-PVG last week, used 48k points to upgrade to J, only to have the power cut-out, no AVOD, no N/C headphones, and the seat stuck in what ever position it was in at the time the power went out. Someone "bumped the wrong button". But, in true QF style, no-one walked through informing people why nothihng was happening (not even in a 2/3 empty J cabin). This should have come as no surprise, as it took 25 mins to be served a glass of wine with our lunch (remember, 2/3 empty J cabin, and I had pressed the call button after 5 mins when I realised they had forgotten to pour it), and after that took 10 mins to bring some butter for the bread roll!

Not happy Jan!!

Firstly, sorry to hear about your poor experience. It's disappointing to see that there was a lack of communication and assistance.

Secondly, you can contact Qantas Customer Care via snail mail at the following address:

Attn: Qantas Customer Care
Qantas Airways Limited
Level 5 - Building A
203 Coward Street
Mascot NSW 2020

or alternatively, you can email Qantas Customer care at the following address: customercare(at)qantas(dot)com(dot)au

or,

Phone - (02) 9691 3399
Fax - (02) 9691 3288

Regards,
Wunala Dreaming

Thanks for that.

I thought the general concensus was that snail mail got a better response? If not, email is alot easier.

Bill, I guess it would like going into a Toyota dealer and asking for a vehicle to tow your 25' caravan around Australia. The dealer recommends you buy a Land Cruiser to meet your requirement. But you decide a Land Cruiser is too expensive so you buy an Echo and ask the dealer to install a towbar and trailer power connector.

Now it depends on what the Toyota dealer tells you about your decision. he may well say something like "You are crazy. It will never work. You cannot tow a 25' caravan around Australia with an Echo. But if you really want to buy an Echo then its your money you are wasting". Or he may say "Well, an Echo may not be the best choice, but technically there is no reason it won't work. We still recommend the Land Cruiser for your needs, but if you want to save some money then the Echo should be fine".

Without knowledge of the negotiations between QF and RC, its difficult to say who is to blame.

I can relate - I regularly fly the Syd-HK route and suffered the same fate with entertainment system - funny how the excuse was the same - its the system.

Most of my flyng recently has been domestic, down the back, in 737s, and all, withut exception have fad very poor audio systems although the video systems gave been upgraded and ere, generally, pretty good - even if they are not to my taste.
As far as the audio systems are concerned, what with thr engine noise and the whire noise transmitted through the eraphones , music is almost impossible t hear, and the spoken word isn't much better.
Hopefully, whem the ipod chargers are introduced, I will be able to listen to my own music.

I have shared these frustrations frequently, but it has certainly not been restricted to QF.

I don't travel BA all that often, but when I do I EXPECT to have in-flight entertainment problems. The only exception has been on BA flights to other Euroports - they often don't have it.

I've never sought compensation, although I might change that now!

On long-haul flights, I either work or sleep so it isn't a huge deal but I DO want to be able to slip on my Bose NC earphones and select some audio on demand

... (and avoid the pickles at all costs!)

Why wait for the airline to install an iPod charger? You mention 737s, so that implies less than 5 hour flight duration. Surely your iPod battery lasts at least that duration. Start using your iPod now and enjoy your own choice of music and clarity.

My last 4 flights Tokyo-Australia-Tokyo on QF have had glitches with the entertainment system - the same glitches each time.

I'm with you NM - I use my Creative Zen wherever I go and either listen to the music I want to hear, or watch vodcasts (Chaser, jtv, Media Watch etc).

I sometimes watch the news during meals (nice how they type out what Amber says!).

I tend to have that problem with 734's. The last five or six 734's have been missing audio channels (and usually Billboard  ) or you have to hold the plug in a certain way to get music through both ears. I find the 73H's much better though.

As for IPOD charges, I take it you are talking long haul. It will be nice of the A380 with USB ports for the last few hours into LAX or LHR. I struggle to get more than 12 hours playback out of mine.
