I just booked a trip to visit the USA late Feb/March next year. QF 93 seems to be a night flight now, rather than a morning departure/also landing in LAX the morning. Any insight whether Qantas might revert back to the old timetable anytime soon (by end of Feb)? I haven't heard any reasons for the schedule change, but I also haven't looked very hard. Thanks

The late evening departure is currently scheduled (with adjustments for Daylight saving) until at least October.

Thanks! - very interesting...does this change to schedule happen every year? I don't recall seeing this schedule before but I don't normally travel at this time of year.

The schedule isn't new, it used be the QF95 schedule, now being used for QF93 instead. Maybe implemented to maximise utilisation, with an aircraft rotation of LAX-MEL-LHR-MEL-LAX ? (bearing in mind LHR-MEL arrives late afternoon/early evening, so can be turned around to become the LAX service).

Presumably if demand picks up and the 380's are re-introduced then they will operate on the old QF93 schedule.
