QF 8 forced to land at [insert Pacific Island] due to strong headwinds

I do not think that is possible. QF has only received 12 A380, and only 11 A380 are in service as they decided to trash the aircraft with a horrible new reconfiguration. .

Yep, speaking of which the second bird headed to Manilla this week for the rework!

You think they will cancel the A380 to HKG so soon after they trumpeted the use of that plane into that port?
I must say though that the timings for SYD HKG are not very condusive at all for a business traveller!

I'm off to HKG next month. The timing of SYD-HKG is just silly, albeit the return overnight is much better timing.

Will probably CX outbound and QF return.

But to keep on topic, is the A380 capable of the distance? As it is its the longest regular 747 service on offer.

I know of someone who does the trip at least once or twice a month and either they stop for fuel in either NAN or LAX or off load a heap of luggage for SYD paxs and then they courier it out the the affected paxs.

I have also heard that they then put the luggage on a DFW to LAX then onto a SYD flight and meets the paxs in SYD.

Is this the flight that flies back with a diminished pax capacity, and if so, this would mean more of a chance getting two seats, or possibly a row, to ones-self?

I would like to know this also. Anyone have recent whY experience? We are travelling QF8 on Sept 29, and keeping an eye on the loads using KVS. Yesterday evening there was some spare seats, while this morning it's all 0's. Double checked with a dummy booking on qf.com and there is no QF8 option available.

We have a UG request for the 4 of us, which wasn't looking to hopeful, but if they take off with light loads, then I might try and make the WP shadow work for us.
