Looking at flying Sydney to Johannesburg on QF metal. Wondering if the 747 is refitted with Skybed II?
I don't like the 8-degree slant.

9 of the 16 B747 aircraft currently in the fleet have been refurbished with the Mk II product - VHOEE, VHOEF, VHOEG, VHOEH, VHOEI, VHOEJ, VHOJS, VHOJT & VHOJU. Had a quick look at flightaware.com for those regos and only one service in the past two weeks was operated with one of the 9 refurbished aircraft.

Easiest way to tell for future travel is to look at the online seat map on your chosen dates- if there is a 3-row front section, its refurbished. If there is a 4-row front section, it's not. Bear in mind that late aircraft juggling could see this change at short notice, so it's never guaranteed.

Thanks for that. I'll check when making the booking.

If JNB isn't getting the refurbished 744s, does that mean they are still selling F or is it a matter of buying J and getting a F seat?

Not selling F on the route anymore so there is the chance to get an F seat if they're not blocked off or allocated already.
