Just got an update via email on my QF580 5 Nov Per-Syd, changed from 1120-1825 to 1105-1820.
Not fussed, just curious as to why the extra 10 minutes, as previous Saturdays flight is still 4hr 5min+EDST, not 4hr 15min+EDST.
Are they forcasting headwinds??? Volcanic ash?
Does anyone know why?

Most flights are timed to take 10 mins longer from 30-Oct. Probably slightly weaker tailwinds at that time of year.

Conversely the reverse flights are slightly shorter.

Does the previous saturdays flight leave at the new time or the original time?

It could be that they expect additional air traffic at that time or they know they will be routed in a slightly different way for what ever reason, or as Danger mentioned a change in aircraft type... There is a whole host of reasons why they could estimate the flight taking slightly longer than normal...

No airplane changes and I checked every flight on the saturdays 30 Oct vs 5 Nov, and they were all 10 min longer.
Yes the start time on QF580 came back 15 min and the arrival time 5 min. Not sure about the rest of the flights.
Thanks for the resonses.
Cheer,
Deano
