OK I know economy is pretty much the same one seat to another but is there any spot you recon is the best on plane, I know the exit rows have more leg room but they are often narrower with the table in the arm and if your lucky enough to get an empty one next to you, the solid arms make this useless anyway.

So where do you sit a group of five to and from Japan ?

Will the 747 even be flying the route in December january anyway

Given the review of QF international operations I would be surprised if this service operates next year, but that is my personal opinion and not fact until the changes are announced in August.

Either that or we will get an A330 which might be better than the 20 YO 747 they use now anyway

On the day you are flying.. do you know which aircraft is flying?
If 747.. then you may have a chance to sit in Y+.
As not many people are still flying to NRT, F is used for J passengers with status.. Downstairs J cabin is used for PE (Y+) and Y+ cabin for QFF status PAX.
In my two return trips to NRT since the Earthquake, on 747 that has been the routine.

So if you are flying on the day they fly 747s.. you maybe in luck..

The trick maybe Advance Seat Selection!

For record I paid for Y+ and all 4 legs seated in 23J (which is J cabin)

Its a 744 scheduled for all but Wednesdays, when its an A333 at this stage! Assuming its still a QF route in Jan, the original question of what seat is best could by hard to answer as the 744 in operation has varied a bit on that route, with the removal of F starting that may only get worse.

Sorry didn't realise that the OP was asking for Dec/Jan and not immediate travel..

Yes agree with markis10.. it is not possible to say which seat as many things may/will change.. and whether even QF continues to fly this sector.. They may just give it to Jetstar.

sorry for old dig up, but just wondering what the opinion is now? looking at seatguru the green ones are at the back, although good for space, it does wobble a bit (previous experience but different route).

Wouldn't it be a OW requirement that the keep QF21/22 like SYD-HNL?

Every time I've been on it its been mostly full.. (Op-up'ed..)

I fly this route every Jan and Jun. the Jan trips are always packed with skiers and June are usually not. I saw an add for coughstar SYD to NRT is that direct now or still through a stop over?

JQ has a stop in CNS or OOL.
