Just received my QF September e-news with the following:
Save 20% on selected domestic flights
save on flights using your points
in either direction between selected cities
For a limited time you can save 20% off selected domestic Award Flights. Here is just a taste of what is available.
Brisbane to Cairns Darwin to Perth Perth to Brisbane
Sydney to Townsville Melbourne to Cairns Adelaide to Darwin

See here for details.

Almost makes the points worth as much as AA points. How nice of QF to give us something for nothing..well, except fuel fines...

Also 20% off some domestic NZ routes, but on current sale fares not great value (assuming red-edeal availability).

QF must be having problems filling seats between 16 Jan 07 - 28 Feb 07 on most routes that were part of last months promotion as there is still a 20% saving available on award flights if booked by 31 Oct 06.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The reality is that even with a 100% discount on points for Oz Domestic Award flights, it's not really good value.

Now, maybe if the 20% discount was on points and the +++'s things may be better.

e.g. That MEL-CNS award flight is normally 18,000 points & around $49 in +++; 14,400 points with the discount. Apply the 20% to the +++'s as well and that drops to $40.

Not a huge deal of difference between $40 and $49. If I had to do SYD-CNS on award then I would do SYD-BNE-GLT-ROK-MKY-TSV-CNS just to pass the time and visit an extra 4 airports I have never been to before.

If you took that routing you would have at least two flight numbers, (SYD-BNE, BNE-CNS) so the savings on +++ would be about doubled (as well as that needing to be paid). Increase again for each separate flight number undertaken.
