Hello fellow travellers!!

I am hoping to become a more and more frequent traveller and am debating the merits of joining the QC.

I have been told that as my father is a member I can apply and join under his membership as an additional card holder for about $250 per year. Is this accurate does anyone know, as before I hassle my father I would like to know for sure!

Also as an additional cardholder on his membership does this mean that when I am travelling I am entitled to use the lounge myself and also have a guest along as well?

I have been lurking in here all day and there are some great tips and advice! I think there is a forum for everything under the sun nowadays!:p

TIA
Leigh :D

There are spouse memberships...but not child that I have seen..

Thanks LoTrOz!!

I had a feeling that this person's information might not be accurate.

I have checked at at work and they don't have a corporate membership so that it out.

Oh well, for now it may be outta my reach, but I will get there.

Off to Bali for a week at the beginning of September and would have loved to have relaxed in the lounge first. But I think that hubby would kill me if I joined just for the sake of using the lounge! :) After all he has not batted an eyelid at me going to Bali and staying in a private 5* villa. (While he the por bugger is too busy building his business into a success so we can both benefit!) How can I justify it to him?? Any good suggestions!

Does anyone know if there is a Qantas lounge in Bali?

The QP T&C's in this regard state:
3. Types of membership
...
3.3 Partner memberships are available under the following conditions:
...
c) The Partner must reside at the same address as the Primary Member.
There is no requirement of the Partner member other than same address.

So If you live at your father's home and he has no other partner member and he is currently a Qantas club Member (whether by paid QP membership or status), then you are quite free to join the QP as a partner member.

The cost (including Joining Fee) for an Australian resident is $385 for one year. Once joined, the annual renewal is around the $250 quoted.

Actually, the requirements are pretty clear IMHO:

"'Partner' means the spouse, or domestic partner, who resides at the same address as the Primary Member;"

"Domestic partner" is normally used to cover same-sex/non married but partnered relationships. You could probably get away with this type of membership for a sibling/parent-child membership, but not really according to the rules.

The reality seems to be for these cases is that Qantas appear to be
  • more than happy to get the $$, and
  • not wish to investigate the domestic affairs of over 18yo's.
(Not saying it's right or wrong)

BTW, Qantas have an "Associated Lounge" in Denpasar,

Thanks Serfty,

But alas....We are returning home with Jet* *Class. The rules say we can use the QC lounges on the *Class Fare but thats it. :(

Still I might just ring up and see what I can find out!

Gosh you are all so helpful.

Thanks one and all ! :D
