Just spoke to Qantas. When I saw more availability on BA website and not the same on Qantas I gave them a call. They did find the same availability as BA via the phone, so don't rely on the QF website for Qatar awards availability. Also there is not even 1 seat from May through end of year available for the Qatar ADL-DOH direct A350 flight :( Hope Qatar releases some seats.

I checked BA last week and there were numerous flights with 4 x J seats , checked again last night nothing available for 2016 not even for one seat in J ,is it a glitch or have the reward seats already taken?

The Qatar/One World situation is a dilemma for Qantas. When pushed, Qantas phone operators magically find FF seats but the bottom line is that Qantas would prefer to place its FF customers on EK metal for departure points and/or destinations where the red roo does not fly in its own right.

ADL is a case in point, with no Qantas international departures/arrivals from that city.

Out of Adelaide on international routes there is a plethora of competing One World Alliance services include Cathay, Malaysian and soon Qatar. Emirates, not a One World member, also flies from ADL daily and is of course Qantas' favoured partner, a partnership that both EK and QF actively promote.

The One World alliance looks to be becoming increasingly strained and does not seem to receive much, if any, promotional dollars from QF. No wonder the QF computers seem to 'forget' to offer One World flight alternatives.

I can see numerous seats available on Qatar using the QF website for departures from May 2016 onwards. Perhaps seat availability is a function of QF FF membership level?

That said, there are many more dates available if I choose to fly to Europe from ADL on EK or on QF (via MEL or PER).

I have checked on QF as well as via the phone and the Frequent Flyer Agent at QF couldn't see any seats from ADL-DOH. Can you please tell me what dates you see a direct flight from ADL-DOH on Qatar or a screenshot?

I'm surprised that QR chose ADL instead of OOL - OOL would be a bigger tourist destination and would capture some BNE traffic too.
I doubt they can operate non stop out of OOL with the length of the runway there. Besides, they are probably waiting for changes to the bi-laterals so they can operate into BNE.

Thanks. Found availability on BA in J but it won't price. Also same date on Qantas but only Economy available.

Have you tried booking over the phone? BA search engine often doesn't price up QR awards even when available, and QF search engine has a bad habit of only showing economy online (perhaps to keep Emirates happy!). Try ringing and you should get booking fees waived as you are unable to book it online.
