QantasLink to operate A320

What have Jetstar canned to free up the A320s?

Or are there new deliveries to replace the two?

Very long flight. They could possibly have a transit in DRW as they have done in the past.
Not that I see it happening, but presumably the ADL-DRW leg would just be domestic? Particularly as QF doesn't fly international out of ADL at the moment.

From memory the transit in DRW used to be an international transit. So one would think you'd need to clear customs/immigration in ADL but if one could get on at DRW as well that would be another option.

I'm just not sure about 737 for that length of flight. I've looked at 3K/JQ a few times SIN-DRW-SYD but the connections are poor and it's a long time to spend on narrowbodies on a LCC. Not sure if full service carrier such as QF makes that flight more attractive. The newer 737s with back of the screen IFE could help.

Qantas Group ordered 110 A320s in 2011. 32 classic and 78 Neo. The Neo order has since been increased to 99. Some of the classics from this order were delivered to JQ HK (and then sold).

It is possible that some of this order could end up with QF mainline for 737 replacement.

I can to a certain degree expect to see QF put those 320s into service without any modifications.
Would save a lot of $.
The fares charged for regional WA flights are awful. Cost to fly PER-KTA/BME/etc is usually way higher than PER-MEL/SYD/etc. JQ-level A320s with no modification would be an even worse deal and I'd hope businesses would reward QF by switching to VA if that happens.

Even now, VA flies their F100s to those ports. While older aircraft, the 34" seat pitch makes it a no brainier to choose.

I see that ex JQ aircraft VH-VQS arrived this afternoon into PER fully painted in QFLink colours....

Looks pretty good. Hope more to come.

And interestingly if the rumor mill at the time (2001) is true this aircraft should have wore Qantas colors from day dot, where it not for the collapse of Ansett and the quick availability of 737's due to 9/11.

Hopefully in a few years some new builds will appear minus "Link" in the title.

Agreed. Some 321neo's still in a common 12/162 layout but with the extra space for a lie flat J would be great for red-eyes where the 332s are often too big and for shorter Asian flights
